Abstract

592,132. Piezo-electric crystal mountings. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and ROBINS, R. H. May 18. 1945, No. 12602. [Class 40 (v)] A piezo-electric crystal 6 is mounted on two contact pins 2 sealed into a glass disc 1. The edges of the disc and also the edges of a glass envelope 5 are metallised by fired-on silver paste and then soldered together. The envelope 5 may then be evacuated and sealed. The above method avoids excessive heating of the crystal during the sealing process. The glass disc 1 with sealed-in contact pins 2 is a standard base for a miniature thermionic valve and any contact pins not required are cut off.
