In a glass-metal seal, the metal having a conductivity unsuitable for high-frequency current, a coating of higher conductivity metal is applied thereto but is interrupted or removed for a small space in the sealing area. Fig. 4 represents a high-frequency discharge device with a resonant slot or window 15 sealed in a diaphragm 14 of nickel-cobalt iron with a coating 18 of copper, gold or silver except at the region 19.
