[Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A lubricating-pump a has a plurality of bores 2 extending directly from a lubricant supply passage 3, each bore 2 containing a piston 5, the stroke of which is controlled by the end of a discharge nipple 8 housing a non-return valve 9 and having a pipe d leading to a bearing. A lubricant duct 14 from a reservoir 10 communicates by ducts 16 with each bore 2, the reservoir 10 being formed as an air bell and being connected through a non-return valve 13 to the supply passage 3. As shown in Fig. 1, for a motor car chassis, pumps a are connected by pipes c ... c<5> to a pump b manually or mechanically actuated. During a discharge stroke of the pump b the oil pressure in the pipes c ... c<5> and passage 3 increases and the pistons 5 make a discharge stroke. Thereafter, the valve 13 opens and the reservoir 10 is recharged. During the suction stroke of the pump b, the pistons 5 are returned and the bores 2 are recharged with lubricant from the reservoir 10. The latter may be fitted with a piston. In a modification, the duct 12 leading to the valve 13 is open to the passage 3 only after one of the pistons 5 has made its stroke, and the duct 14 intersects the bores 2 so as to dispense with the ducts 16.
