[Class 8 (i)] In a refrigerating compressor provided in the crank case 1 with an oil bath in which the driving mechanism parts are immersed, the crank case is under suction pressure and the oil level therein is limited by the suction conduit 16 located between the crank case and the interior of the compressor cylinder and is always maintained at the same level, the excess oil being taken up by the compressor and forced into the condenser 12 and being finally returned to the crank case. As shown, the conduit 16 is constituted by holes 16 in the compressor cylinder 2 located just above the piston 3 when the latter is at the end of its outstroke. The evaporator 9 has a conduit 10 leading to the crank case, one end of the conduit being open above the lubricant level in the evaporator, and oil holes 20 being provided below the oil level. In a modification the holes 16 are replaced by a pipe.
