Abstract
615,709. Reciprocating pumps. TECALEMIT, Ltd., and LE CLAIR, C. C. S. June 30, 1944, No. 12548. [Class 102 (i)] A multicylinder lubricating pump comprises a number of units each comprising a body 1 having two cylinders 2, each housing a piston 3 which is retracted by a spring 7 and moved on the delivery stroke by a pulsating fluid pressure that exists in the bore 13 and transmitted through the passage 14. A stop 11 limits the suction stroke and a sleeve 8 the delivery stroke and the stroke may be varied by altering the number of washers 10. The individual units are mounted side by side and end covers 28, 29 are provided and the whole is held together by a rod 31 fitted with nuts 33, 34. The end cap 28 has a boss 40 in connection with the bores 13 for transmission of the pulsating pressure and a boss 41 which is connected to the lubricant supply. Each housing has a groove 16 and passages 17, 18, 19, 20 which form a common suction conduit through all the pumps from which passages 21 and 22 lead to the cylinders. Each cylinder has a delivery valve 5 and is connected by a pipe 70 to the point to be lubricated. The pulsating pressure may be provided by a pump or by a rotary valve connected to a source of gas pressure. When a pump is used, a relief valve is fitted to restrict the pressure acting on the pistons. The pumps may be connected to form a small battery, several of the batteries being connected in series to the pulsating pressure producing means. If grease is employed as a lubricant, means may be provided for feeding the grease to the pump under pressure. As shown in Fig. 11, each pump piston may be provided with a head 60 in which the fluid pressure acts to increase the pressure at which the lubricant is delivered. Specification 572,513 is referred to.
