Abstract

442,435. Fuel - injection pumps. THOMAS, A. H. J., 55, Senga Road, and BRYCE, Ltd., Kelvin Works, both in Hackbridge, Surrey. July 7, 1934, No. 19957. [Class 102 (i)] The plunger E of a fuel injection pump has a helical groove F connecting with the working face H. Ports B, C in the cylinder D are arranged so that the end H of the plunger covers the port B to cause delivery and the groove F uncovers the port C to cause release. Several ports may be arranged to co-operate with the working face H and cause a quick cut-off of fuel at the beginning of injection and similarly several ports may be arranged to co-operate with the groove F to give a sudden release at the end of injection. The ports B, C may be replaced by a vertical slot. Several grooves F may be provided. The fuel delivery is controlled by rotating the plunger. Specification 395,749 is referred to.
