Abstract

402,886. Fuel - injection pumps. ALDER, S., 3, Westcliffe Road South, Roker, Sunderland. Jan. 30, 1933, No. 21251/32. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection pump for Diesel engines the amount of fuel delivered at each stroke of the pump may be varied by axially adjusting a sleeve 4 which embraces the piston 2, the position of the inlet ports 10 thus determining the amount of fuel injected. A cut-off of the injection is ensured by providing the plunger 2 with a duct 8 terminating in lateral ports 9, pressure being relieved through the outlets 12 in the sleeve 4 when the ports 9 clear the edge of an adjustable guide 3.
