Abstract
408,760. Speed governors. SOC. GENERALE DES CARBURATEURS ZENITH, 26, Rue de Villiers, Levallois- Perret, Seine, France. Jan. 7, 1933, No. 637. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1932. [Class 57.] A regulating arrangement for a fuel injection pump comprises a hand or foot operated member 5 connected to the control member 4 of the pump, and the limit of its movement to increase the fuel is adjusted by contact of a pin 8 with a cam 16 controlled by a speed governor 12. The cam 16 is of any shape and is shown as restricting the amount of fuel as the speed increases with a further sharp incline to prevent the speed increasing above a maximum. In addition a cam 9 may operate a rod 69 to vary the time of injection. The governor 12 may be of the centrifugal or fluid type and may operate through a fluid pressure device comprising a spring loaded plunger 42 operating a stop 27 adjacent the end of the control member 4 and provided with an inclined end 50 co-operating with a relief port 45. The plunger 42 is rotated by the governor through gearing 40. The governor may operate a lever pivoted to the control member 4 and connected to the pedal so that as the speed varies the fulcrum of the lever is varied and the stroke of the member 4 is varied.
