Auxiliary actuating-gear; cam-actuated pumps; regulating delivery by by-passes. - In a fuel pump for internal-combustion engines, the delivery is regulated by means of a by-pass valve 7, which is opened at a variable point in the delivery stroke of the plunger 2 by a tappet lever 14 and rod 16. The lever 14 is rocked by an eccentric 11 on the engine shaft 4, an eccentric being angularly adjustable by the governor 18 to vary the moment of opening of the valve 7. The opening of the valve may be adjusted also by shifting the fulcrum 22 of the lever 14 by means of a hand-wheel 25. The action of the governor on the eccentric 11 may be adjusted by handgear acting on bell-crank levers 33 to which the governor springs 38 are attached. The plunger 2 may be operated by a hand-lever 39, which may be used to stop the pump by holding the plunger out of reach of the cam follower 44.
