Abstract

296,555. Rosin, M. Sept. 2, 1927. Traction engines, internal-combustion engine. -To render the running wheels of agricultural motor tractors independently vertically adjustable, so that the tractor may run with one wheel in a furrow, ditch &c., the front wheels 19 are driven by pinions 58 and crown wheels 59, bevel gearing 56, 57, and 47, 51, and a. shaft 45 driven from the main shaft by a chain 44. The gear wheels 57 and pinions 58 are carried by vertical supports 53 and the axles of the wheels 19 by vertical rods 55 on the supports 53, the gear wheels 51 being slidable on squared shafts 50. Chains 62 secured to projections 52 on the supports 53 pass round guide sheaves 61 and then round winding drums 60, either or both of which can be clutched to the shaft 45. When a chain 62 is wound on its drum 60, the corresponding support 53 and running wheel 19 is lowered. The supports 53 are latched in adjusted position by latches 63. A similar adjustment is provided for the rear wheels of the tractor.
