Abstract

234,250. Hoare, G. April 14, 1924. Motor forecarriages.-Relates to road rollers in which an engine and driving gear are mounted upon an underearriage which can be turned for steering relatively to the vehicle, the other axle being merely a trailing axle. The engine and driving gear are mounted upon a base ring e rotatably mounted in or upon a turntable d of channel or like section which supports the main frame a by means of pivots d', d<2> preferably arranged longitudinadly. The front rollers are carried by an axis g<1> which supports the ring e through side brackets e<1>. The two rollers are driven through differential gearing and toothed and chain transmission gear. The ring e is turned in the turntable d for steering by means of a vertical steering-spindle n<1> mounted on the motor frame and carrying a pinion &c. which meshes with a corresponding gear on the outside of the turntable d.
