Abstract
216,814. Brown, J. R., and Gardner, R. Jan. 12, 1924. Raising and erecting posts.-In machines for erecting telegraph poles, of the type in which pole-engaging clamps are carried by a sliding table traversed by screw-and-nut mechanism on a swivelling under-table mounted in a framing carrying a lifter and winch, the sliding table is arranged parallel to the bed of the swivelling table. In the illustrated form the pole-engaging clamps are secured to the sliding table 10 by T-headed bolts engaging similarly-shaped slots in the table. This table is traversed by screw mechanism 8 on the swivelling table 7, which is mounted on a frame 1 carrying a lifter 2 and winch 4. In operation the clamped pole is turned into the upright position by swivelling the tube 7 and then lowered into the ground by sliding the table 10. By reversing the operations a pole can be removed from the ground.
