Abstract

164,635. Buck, E. Aug. 10, 1920. Tube-applying apparatus.-Tubes which have been placed by hand on the spindles of a mule, ring spinning-frame, or the like, are pressed down into position by a device comprising a pair of plates a, b having tapered holes c cut in the joining-line of the plates. The plates are connected together by bolts h and nuts i, and are pressed apart by springs q. A shaft m having a handle p and carried by brackets k on the plate a has eccentric end portions n engaging holes in the bolts h. The device is held by handles g, f, the handle p is turned to move the plates apart, and the holes are then placed over the tubes. The handle p is released, and the tubes gripped in the holes are pressed down the spindles. The handle p is turned again to release the tubes, and the device is removed.
