Abstract

Closed solid - fuel stoves; grates and fuel-holders. - In a closed solid - fuel stove, air for combustion passes partly vertically upwards through the bottom grate, partly through and in front of gratings at the front of the fire, and partly from an inclined grate at the rear to the front of the fire, where the outlet for the combustion products is situated. The stove shown comprises a bottom fuelsupporting plate A which is perforated with small holes to allow the use of small fuel, and is detachably mounted on a grid H, the latter being reciprocable for cleaning purposes. In front of the fire are inclined grates D, D<1> removably mounted in slotted side supports C, and at the rear is an inclined grate E, removably supported on a plate B arranged above the bottom plate A and having openings b, c, the latter of which is located beneath the grate E. Air for combustion passes from the ash-pit to and through the fire in the directions indicated by the arrows. In a modification, the various grates are not removable, the rear grate E is replaced by a block provided with air channels, and the bottom fuel support consists of a single reciprocable grate.
