Abstract

128,515. Fairfax, H. W. Gabbett-. Jan. 22, 1919. Addition to 128,354. Machine guns. - Relates to gas-operated guns having an intermediate air piston and cylinder for operating the breech as described in the parent Specification, and consists in operating the air piston by a rotating or forwardly sliding cap on the muzzle. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the air piston G is operated by the forwardly sliding cap C through links D, F and a lever E. In a modification, the air piston acts in a forward direction. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, a cap Q is rotated by the gases from the muzzle and actuates a cam T through worm gearing. The cam acts on a block O<1> at the end of the pistonrod and actuates the air piston G.
