Abstract
575,515. Automatic guns. LIPPERT, H. Feb. 9, 1944, No. 2425. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Relates to short-recoil automatic guns in which a bolt 7 controlling or effecting the locking of the breech-block 4 to the barrel-extension 2 engages by a pin 7a with a shaped cam groove 8 in the fixed gun-casing 3. According to the invention, the bolt 7 is rotatably mounted in the reduced forward part of the breech-block and extends through the barrel-extension 2, Fig. 3, being guided in a longitudinal groove 9 therein, at least one end of the bolt 7 having a crank arm, the crank pin 7a of which engages the groove 8 in the gun casing. In the form shown, the bolt 7 itself constitutes the locking bolt and is cut away in semi-cylindrical form, Fig. 4, so that the parts 7b, Fig. 3, can slide in the groove 9 in the barrel-extension, after the bolt has been turned by the crank arm. In modifications, the bolt is provided with arms to effect locking by direct engagement with the barrel extension or by indirect operation of one or more sliding locking blocks.
