Abstract
415,757. Automatic guns. MANCINI, N., 20, Piazza d'Azeglio, Florence, Italy. Dec. 3, 1932, No. 34290. Convention date, June 3, 1932. [Class 92 (ii).] Relates to recoiling-barrel guns of the kind in which the breech-bolt 3 is locked in the firing position by a double-armed lever 5 which co-operates with the firing-pin 4 to prevent firing until the breech is closed and locked. According to the invention, (1) the lever 5, pivoted at 7 to the barrel-extension 2, directly engages during recoil a fixed incline 8 on the gun casing, and has mounted therein a spring- pressed safety-sear 6 which directly engages a tooth 17 on the firing pin ; (2) the firing pin carries a second tooth 18 adapted to be engaged by the vertically-movable hand-sear 19 if the trigger is relaxed after incomplete locking of the bolt, thereby preventing firing should the breech-bolt suddenly become locked; and (3) the hand-sear is provided with a projection 20 to hold the breech-block open when firing ceases. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also (1) means to control the speed of discharge by air-dash-pot action within a cylinder a formed in the firing pin; and (2) means for lubricating the gun consisting of a reciprocating oil pump b mounted within an oil reservoir c, the piston rod of the pump being pressed by a spring against the barrel extension so as to be operated thereby. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
