Abstract

613,942. Automatic guns. HAIG, D. M. (Schweizerische Industrie-Ges.). Feb. 23, 1946, No. 5691. [Class 92 (ii)] An automatic gun having a gas chamber 4 to which the gun gases are led from the barrel 1 by passages 2, 3 to operate the breech mechanism through a piston 5 is constructed with the gas chamber 4 placed in the breech casing 7 or in a tubular part 6a of the cocking device of the breech bolt itself. The gas passage 2 for taking the. gases from the barrel is situated at. the rear end of the barrel. The forward part of a cylindrical guide member for the tubular part 6a of the breech bolt 6 forms the gas chamber 4 in which the piston 5 actuated by the gases acts on the tubular part against the pressure of a spring. In a modification the gas piston is mounted on the tubular part. In a further modification a longitudinal passage is drilled in the tubular part to form a gas chamber so that the tubular part itself operates as a piston. A cocking handle 6b is mounted on the tubular part 6a.
