Definitions
- the invention relates to the use of a fire-retardant barrier in the cross section of a ventilation duct.
- Such a lock is known for example from DE-B-1218953.
- a fire-retardant barrier is known from EP-A-0 256 239, which consists of a latticework made of highly heat-conducting material, which is arranged between the walls of a container, to which the heat is passed on and thereby prevents a flame from breaking through or that Passing through a fire roller is delayed or prevented and the spreading of deflagrations is greatly restricted or prevented.
- the latticework is therefore made of expanded material.
- This object is achieved in that the cross section of the ventilation duct is completely filled over a certain length with a flowable, highly heat-dissipating latticework made of expanded metal, preferably made of aluminum foil, at the points at which it penetrates the boundary between two fire sections.
- an insert frame is suitable for this purpose, the dimensions of which are adapted to the free cross-section of the ventilation duct and also have transverse struts transversely to the direction of flow in front of and behind the expanded metal.
- Such an insert frame could either be filled with a plurality of layers of expanded metal lying more or less parallel to one another, or also with packing elements which, for example, have a spherical shape, which again consist of expanded metal, or a mixture of both.
- Decisive for the choice between the two variants is, on the one hand, the specific flow resistance and the strength of the air filter effect which occurs as a result and, on the other hand, the available axial length of such an insert frame, measured along the flow direction of the channel.
- Such an insert frame can be introduced very easily into the cross section of the ventilation duct, for example through a door which is arranged in one of the walls of the ventilation duct.
- the insert frame Since the expanded metal becomes contaminated more or less quickly due to its additional function as an air filter, depending on the place of use in such a ventilation system, which can also increase the flow resistance in the corresponding ventilation duct, it is necessary to regularly remove the expanded metal contained in the insert Clean intervals or even replace. For this purpose, it is necessary that after the insert frame has been removed from the cross section of the ventilation duct, the insert frame itself can be opened in order to enable the layers of expanded metal or the fillers to be removed easily. For this purpose, either a position of the cross struts can be separated from the sides of the insert frame, or else one side can be separated from the other pages or at least pivoted away. In this way it is possible to refill the insert frame in a short time.
- the cross braces that run transversely to the direction of flow through the ventilation duct must be at a distance that is significantly smaller than the size of the individual filler element in order to prevent the filler elements from being blown away due to the air flow in the ventilation duct.
- Struts running individually and parallel, transverse to the direction of flow of the ventilation duct, or a sufficiently strong grid made of a heat-resistant expanded metal can serve as cross struts.
- the insert frame In the event of a fire, this prevents the filling that dissipates the heat very strongly from the walls of the ventilation duct, the insert frame also prevents the flame from breaking through or hinders or defends the fire roller or deflagration in the area of the ventilation duct behind the insert frame in the flow direction, i.e. the next fire section, as rapid heat dissipation prevents the ignition temperature from reaching the expanded metal, at least for some time.
- This function of heat dissipation is only fully fulfilled by the expanded metal if it is a material, for example aluminum, which inherently has a very high conductivity, and if this material is in no way against the ambient air against heat was isolated. This means that this expanded metal is neither deliberate with any insulation effect owning material may be coated, such a coating should be present unintentionally, for example due to heavy soiling. For this reason, regular cleaning and maintenance of the insert frame and its contents is recommended from time to time.
- FIG. 1 and Figure 2 show a longitudinal section through a ventilation duct, which consists of the walls 1, with an opening in one of the walls, which is closed from the outside by a door 2, which is connected to the wall 1 by means of a hinge 4 is articulated near the opening of the wall.
- this door 2 In the closed state, this door 2 is held against the wall 1 by a locking device (not shown), a circumferential, fire-resistant seal 3 being located between the outer edge of the door 2 and the wall 1.
- the insert 10 can be easily removed from the cross section of the ventilation duct.
- the insert 10 consists of pages 7, whose outer contour must be adapted to the inner contour of the wall 1 of the ventilation duct.
- Transverse struts 8 are located transversely to the sides 7 and thus also transversely to the flow direction 6 of the ventilation duct at the front and rear front of the insert frame 10, which in FIG. are designed as a perforated plate.
- the space enclosed within the insert frame 10, that is to say the sides 7 and the cross struts 8, is completely filled with fillers 5 which consist of expanded metal, of which only a part is shown in FIG. 1 by way of example.
- the perforation of the perforated plates shown in FIG. 1 as cross struts 8 must be smaller than the diameter of the filler 5 in order to ensure that the filler is retained between the two perforated plates.
- either one of the perforated plates or one of the sides 7 can be removed from the rest of the insert frame or at least unfolded before the insert frame 10 - after removal from the cross section of the ventilation duct.
- the insert frame 10 shown in FIG. 2 contains a large number of layers 9 of expanded metal, of which only two layers are also shown by way of example in FIG. 2, while in practice the entire space enclosed by the insert frame with a large number of such mutually and the sides 7 touching layers 9 is filled.
- the transverse support by the cross struts 8 has to be less extensive here be so that the cross struts 8 can be carried out, for example, by individual, parallel rods or struts, as is the case in FIG.
- FIG. 1 applies to the loading and emptying of the insert frame 10.
- FIG. 3 shows a longitudinal section through the walls 1 of a ventilation duct, into which a fixed insert 10 is no longer inserted, but in which there are two transverse struts 8 fastened transversely to the flow direction in the cross section of the ventilation duct, between which the latticework, in this Case the packing 5 made of expanded metal, are kept.
- Sufficiently dimensioned perforated sheets, grids and thus also sufficiently strongly dimensioned expanded metal can be used as cross struts 8, which in the case shown here are only spread between the walls 1 of the ventilation duct, which is indicated by the same deflection of the cross struts 8 downwards.
- any other type of fastening would also be possible.
- the introduction takes place in such a way that, after the door 2 has been swung open via the opening which is thereby accessible, the lower cross strut 8 is first fastened in the cross section of the ventilation duct, whereupon the desired amount of expanded metal, in this case the filler 5, is applied to the lower cross strut 8.
- the upper cross strut 8 is then introduced into the cross section between the walls 1 to cover upwards.
- individual layers 9 of expanded metal can be used to fill the distance between the two cross struts 8, or a mixture of layers 9 and fillers 5 consisting of expanded metal.
