Definitions
- the invention relates to a contact arrangement in a relay for high switching power with a movable contact spring which is split at its free end into two fork ends, each of these fork ends facing at least on one side a fixed mating contact element.
- Such a relay is known for example from DE-GM 81 34 890.
- contact springs with split ends for double contacting have long been common in order to increase contact reliability, for example in the case of low-voltage contacts.
- a contact spring with double contacts either serves as a bridge contact without its own connection, or the current path is distributed over two contacts in the sense of a parallel connection in order to distribute the high switching current over the cable cross-section of two connection elements and thereby protect them to protect against excessive heating.
- the contact arrangements have so far been designed so that the entire switching current flows through the spring.
- the contact spring must therefore consist of electrically good conductive material in order to keep the voltage drop and the heating small.
- such a spring must also have certain elastic properties to ensure the required switching characteristics and the contact forces. In order to meet all of these requirements, the contact spring had to be made from an expensive copper alloy.
- the object of the invention is to provide a contact arrangement for a relay of the type mentioned, a high switching current over the two fork ends of the contact spring can be performed both in use as a bridge contact and in use as a double contact without the contact spring itself must consist of electrically good conductive material, although a simple power supply to the two fork ends is still possible.
- this object is achieved in that the two fork ends are connected via a contact strip made of electrically highly conductive material which runs transversely to the longitudinal extension of the contact spring and is exposed in the region between the fork ends.
- the contact strip itself can be designed as a continuous contact piece which faces the two counter-contact elements.
- This contact piece can consist, for example, of copper or a copper alloy, this strip expediently being coated with an additional noble metal coating at least in the areas opposite the counter-contact elements.
- the contact strip itself can consist of a noble metal alloy, for example of silver-nickel or the like, so that an additional coating is not necessary.
- a connecting wire can be welded directly onto the contact strip in this area, so that when used for double contacting, the switching current supplied does not run at all through the contact spring itself. Accordingly, this can only be designed according to its spring properties and thus be designed as a steel spring with relatively poor electrical conductivity.
- the connecting wire welded in the middle area also does not interfere if the fork ends of the contact spring are to be provided on both sides with contact pieces for producing a double changeover contact.
- the individual contact pieces opposite the contact strip can each be connected directly to the contact strip in openings in the spring material, so that the resistance of the spring in the current path of the switching current does not play a role here either.
- the contact spring with fork ends designed according to the invention can also be used as a bridge contact, the contact strip itself representing the contact bridge.
- the contact strip does not have to be solid. Rather, a flexible strand can also be used for this purpose, which ends are welded onto the fork ends of the contact spring. This has the advantage that the two fork ends are not rigidly connected to one another. For example, when welding one fork end, the other can still be moved and, if necessary, open the contact.
- the contact arrangement shown in Fig. 1 is part of a relay, as is generally shown for example in DE-GM 83 25 986 with its magnet system.
- a contact spring 2 is fastened to the armature 1 of such a magnet system and also serves as an armature return spring.
- the contact spring 2 is divided at its free end into two fork ends 2a and 2b, which two Opposing contact elements 3 and 4 or the contact pieces 5 and 6 arranged thereon face each other. Due to the simultaneous contact between the contact spring 2 or its ends 2a and 2b with the two mating contact elements 3 and 4, a high switching current is distributed over two parallel paths and is derived via two connecting lugs 7 and 8, which are anchored in a base body, not shown. In this way, excessive heating of the live parts is avoided.
- the power supply to the contact spring 2 takes place via a strand 9, which is fastened, for example welded, at one end 9a to a connecting element 10 and is welded at its other end 9b to a contact strip 11, which is transverse to the longitudinal direction of the contact spring 2 via the two Placed fork ends 2a and 2b and attached to them by welding, riveting or the like.
- the contact strip 11 serves at the same time as a contact piece, which is provided with an additional noble metal layer 12 in the actual contact-making areas compared to the contact pieces 5 and 6.
- the exposed middle section 11a of the contact strip 11 in the cut-away area between the fork ends 2a and 2b of the contact spring 2 enables the wire 9 to be simply welded on, as a result of which the switching current is supplied directly to the contact piece 11 and thus does not extend via the contact spring 2 itself.
- This contact spring 2 can therefore consist of relatively cheap, electrically poorly conductive spring steel.
- FIG. 3 shows a section through the spring ends 2a and 2b, the connection of the current-carrying parts.
- the contact spring 2 could also be designed as a double changeover contact spring.
- additional contact pieces 13 need only be attached on the fork ends 2a and 2b opposite the contact strip 11, as is indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 3. These additional contact pieces 13 could then cooperate with further mating contact elements, not shown. In this case, the current supply via the strand 9 would not need to be changed at all, since it is welded onto the central region 11a of the contact strip 11 and therefore does not come into conflict with the additional contact pieces 13.
- the contact spring 2 is provided with fork ends 2a, which face two mating contact elements 3 and 4 (see FIG. 1).
- the contact spring 2 is not provided with a power connection at all, rather the contact spring acts as a contact bridge which closes the circuit between the two mating contact elements 3 and 4 when it is closed.
- a contact strip 19 is arranged between the fork ends 2a and 2b, which is made of a flexible strand. In this way, the two contact spring ends or fork ends 2a and 2b can perform a relative movement, so that when the contact is welded on one fork end, the contact on the other fork end can still be moved and opened.
- contact pieces 15 and 16 are arranged on both fork ends, which are arranged with shaft extensions 17 and 18 in openings in the respective fork end and are each welded to the end 19a and 19b of the contact strip, which abuts on the opposite side of the contact spring.
- the contact pieces 15 and 16 are provided according to the previous example with a contact pad 12 made of precious metal.
- the contact pieces could also consist of a noble metal alloy.
