Description
enthält, wobei einerseits die Bestandteile (a), (b), (c)
in einem Gewichtsverhältnis von 0,5 bis 15 Gew.-Teilen Hydroxyfettsäure zu 1 Teil der
Dicarbonsäure stehen und ein Gewichtsverhältnis von 0,025 bis 2,5 Teilen der zweiten Hydroxycarbonsäure zu 1 Teil der Dicarbonsäure eingehalten wird
und anderseits die Bestandteile (a), (b) und (d) in einem Gewichtsverhältnis von etwa 3 bis 100 Teilen
Hydroxyfettsäure zu 1 Teil Borsäure stehen und ein Gewichtsverhältnis von 0,1 bis 10 Teilen der zweiten
Hydroxycarbonsäure zu 1 Teil Borsäure eingehalten wird.
2. Schmierfett nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es eine Hydroxyfettsäure mit 12 bis 24
Kohlenstoffatomen und eine Dicarbonsäure enthält, wobei das Gewichtsverhältnis der erstgenannten
Säure zur letztgenannten Säure 1,5 bis 5 :1 beträgt
3. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es eine Hydroxycarbonsäure mit 3 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen und eine
Dicarbonsäure enthält, wobei das Gewichtsverhältnis der erstgenannten Säure zur letztgenannten
Säure 0,125 bis 1,25 :1 beträgt
4. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein Lithiumsalz der
zweiten Hydroxycarbonsäure, welches innerhalb der Fettmasse erhalten worden ist enthält.
5. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als zweite Hydroxycarbonsäure Salicylsäure enthält
6. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als zweite Hydroxycarbonsäure Milchsäure oder Parahydroxybenzoesäure enthält
7. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Hydroxyfettsäure eine 12-Hydroxystearinsäure enthält
8. Schmierfett nach den Ansprüchen 1 bi 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Dicarbonsäure
Azelainsäure oder Sebacinsäure enthält
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Schmierfett, das zum größeren Teil aus einem Schmieröl und zu 2 bis 30
Gew.-%, berechnet auf die Gesamtmasse, aus einem Lithiumseifen enthaltenden Verdickungssystem besteht
Derartige Fette sind bekannt Insbesondere sind Lithiumceifen-Schmierfette bekannt deren Lithiumseifenkomponenten sich teilweise auch von Hydroxyfettsäuren mit 12 bis 24 C-Atomen bzw. 3 bis 14 C-Atomen
ableiten. Aufgabe der Erfindung ist die Herstellung
eines Fettes, das einen hochliegenden Tropfpunkt eine ausgezeichnete Oxydationsbeständigkeit eine lange
Schmierdauer und Wasserbeständigkeit besitzt Dies wird durch die Kombination von Lithiumseifen mit
ίο Lithiumsalzen erreicht
Es gibt zahlreiche Anwendungsgebiete für Fettzusammensetzungen, bei denen ein hoher Tropfpunkt
erforderlich ist beispielsweise zum Schmieren der Lager von Traktormotoren. Derartige Zugmotoren
werden zum Antrieb moderner Diesellokomotiven verwendet Die Lager solcher Lokomotiven sollen
während einer Dauer von mehr als 3 Jahren ohne Wartung arbeiten, und es können dabei Temperaturen
bis zu 121°C in solchen Lagern auftreten.
Gemäß vorliegender Erfindung wird ein Fett aus einer Lithiumbase, das ausgezeichnete Oxydationsbeständigkeit und mechanische Widerstandsfähigkeit
sowie einen Tropfpunkt von 260° C oder höher aufweist aus folgenden Bestandteilen hergestellt: (a) eine
9-Hydroxy-, 10-Hydroxy- oder 12-Hydroxyfettsäure mit
12 bis 24, vorzugsweise 16 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen im
Molekül, (b) eine zweite Hydroxycarbonsäure mit 3 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül, in der die Hydrogruppe an einem Kohlenstoffatom sitzt das nicht mehr
als 6 Kohlenstoffatome von der Carboxylgruppe entfernt ist und (c) eine Dicarbonsäure mit 4 bis 12
Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül oder Borsäure. Die Komponente (c) kann auch durch ein Monolithiumsalz
von Borsäure ersetzt werden.
In der amerikanischen Patentschrift 29 40 930 ist bereits angegeben, daß Fette mit einem Tropfpunkt von
2600C oder höher aus Mischungen von Monocarbon-
und Dicarbonsäure hergestellt werden können. Bei der Herstellung der in diesem Patent beschriebenen Fette
ist es jedoch nötig, Glycol mitzuverwenden. Die Gegenwart von Glycol ist unerwünscht, da sie das Fett
oxydationsempfindlich macht und die Wasserbeständigkeit desselben bei verschiedenen Anwendungen in
unerwünschtem Maße erniedrigt
Die amerikanischen Patente 32 25 633 und 32 23 624 lehren die Herstellung von Fetten mit hohem Tropfpunkt aus einer Dreikomponentenmischung von Säuren.
Die Anwesenheit von fettsauren Salzen mit 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül, die einen wesentlichen
Bestandteil dieser bekannten Fette darstellen, ist jedoch häufig unerwünscht da solche Fette die Tendenz zu
einer Verhärtung der Oberfläche beim Stehen zeigen.
Ganz allgemein sind aus zahlreichen Patenten Schmierfette bekannt, die als Verdickungsmittel Li
thiumseifen enthalten. Es handelt sich um die deutsche
Auslegeschrift 1111 757, die britischen Patente 7 36 921,
7 34 609, 7 15 841 und 7 05 909 sowie die amerikanischen Patente 31 08 965, 31 03 493, 30 79 341, 30 09 878,
30 03 962, 29 90 345, 29 83 680, 29 80 614 und 26 29 965.
Insbesondere sind auch aus einigen dieser Entgegenhaltungen Lithiumseifen-Schmiermittel bekanntgeworden,
deren Lithiumseifenkomponenten sich teilweise auch von Hydroxyfettsäuren mit 12 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen bzw. 3 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen ableiten.
Eine Kombination von Lithiumseifen bzw. Lithiumsalzen, wie sie in der vorliegenden Anmeldung
beansprucht wird, ist jedoch bisher nicht bekanntgeworden.
Der durch die Erfindung erzielte technische Fortschritt besteht besonders darin, daß die Schmierfette
gemäß der Erfindung hinsichtlich ihres Tropfpunktes, ihrer Oxydationsbeständigkeit, der Schmierdauer und
Wasserbeständigkeit erhebliche Vorteile aufweisen.
Die bei der Herstellung von Fetten gemäß der Erfindung verwendete Hydroxyfettsäure besitzt etwa 12
bis 24, vorzugsweise 6 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome im Molekül und stellt vorzugsweise eine Hydroxystearinsäure,
beispielsweise 9-Hydroxy-, 10-Hydroxy- oder
12-Hydroxystearinsäure, dar. Auch Rizinolsäure, die eine ungesättigte Form der 12-Hydroxystearinsäure
darstellt und in der 9 — 10-Stellung eine Doppelbindung
aufweist, kann verwendet werden.
Die Hydroxycarbonsäure, die den zweiten Bestandteil des Fettes gemäß der Erfindung darstellt, ist eine solche,
in der die Hydroxylgruppe an einem Kohlenstoffatom sitzt, das nicht mehr als 6 Kohlenstoffatome von der
Carboxylgruppe entfernt ist Diese Säure besitzt 3 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatome im Molekül und kann entweder eine
aJipha tische Säure, wie Milchsäure, 6-Hydroxydekanolsäure,
3-Hydroxybutanolsäure, 4-Hydroxybutanolsäure und dergleichen, oder eine aromatische Säure, wie
Parahydroxybenzoesäure, Salicylsäure, 2-Hydroxy-4-Hexylbenzoesäure,
Metahydroxybenzoesäure, 2,5-Dihydroxybenzoesäure (Gentisinsäure), 1,6-Dihydroxybenzoesäure
(Gamma-Resorcinsäure), 4-Hydroxy-3-Methoxybenzoesäure usw. oder eine hydroxyaromatische
aliphatische Säure sein, wie Orthohydroxyphenyl-, Meta-Hydroxyphenyl- oder Parahydroxyphenylessigsäure;
auch eine zykloaliphatische Hydroxysäure, wie Hydroxyzyklopentylcarbonsäure oder Hydroxynaphthalinsäure,
kann verwendet werden.
Bei der Herstellung des Fettes kann anstelle einer freien Hydroxysäure der letztgenannten Art auch ein
Ester eines niederen Alkohols, beispielsweise der Methyl-, Äthyl-, Propyl-, Isopropyl- oder sekundäre
Bytylester der Säure verwendet werden, wie beispielsweise Methylsalicylat, um bei unlöslichen Salzen eine
bessere Dispersion zu erreichen. Die Menge des Lithiumsalzes der Hydroxysäure liegt zwischen etwa 0,1
bis etwa 10 Gew.-°/o des fertigen Fetts, vorzugsweise zwischen etwa 0,5 und etwa 5 Gew.-%.
Der dritte Bestandteil ist das Dilithiumsalz einer Dicarbonsäure oder ein Monolithiumsalz von Borsäure.
Die Dicarbonsäure soll 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoff atome, vorzugsweise 6 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatome, im Molekül
enthalten. Zu solchen Säuren gehören Bernsteinsäure, Glutarsäure, Adipinsäure, Korksäure, Pimilinsäure,
Azelainsäure, Dodecanolsäure und Sebacinsäure. Dabei werden Sebacinsäure und Azelainsäure bevorzugt.
Der gesamte Seifen- und Salzgehalt des Fettes liegt in
der Größenordnung von etwa 2 bis 30 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise zwischen etwa 5 und 20 Gew.-%.
Wenn eine Dicarbonsäure verwendet wird, liegt das Verhältnis der Hydroxyfettsäure mit 12 bis 24
Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül zur Dicarbonsäure in der Größenordnung von 0,5 bis 15 Gew.-Teilen der
ersteren zu 1 Gew.-Teil der letzteren, vorzugsweise in der Größenordnung von 1,5 bis 5 Gew.-Teilen der
Hydroxyfettsäure zu 1 Gew.-Teil der Dicarbonsäure. Das Verhältnis der zweiten Hydroxycarbonsäure zur
Dicarbonsäure liegt in der Größenordnung von etwa 0,025 bis 2,5 Gew.-Teilen der ersteren auf 1 Gew.-Teil
der letzteren, vorzugsweise zwischen 0,125 bis 1,25 Gew.-Teilen der ersteren auf 1 Gew.-Teil der letzteren.
Man kann auch ein Fett mit hohem Tropfpunkt
erhalten, indem man das Monolithiumsalz der Borsäure
anstelle des Dilithiumsalzes der Dicarbonsäure einsetzt
Wenn das Fett mit Borsäure anstelle einer Dicarbonsäure hergestellt wird, liegt das Gew.-Verhältnis zwischen
etwa 3 und 100 Gew.-Teüen oder gewöhnlich zwischen 5 und 80 Gew.-Teilen der Hydroxyfettsäure auf 1
Gew.-Teil der Borsäure und bei einem Gew.-Verhältnis von etwa 0,1 bis 10 oder besser von 03 bis etwa 5
Gew.-Teilen der zweiten Hydroxycarbonsäure zu 1 Gew.-Teil der Borsäure.
ίο Die Schmierölgrundlage, die bei der Herstellung der
Fettmassen gemäß der Erfindung verwendet wird, kann irgendein übliches Mineralöl, ein synthetisches Kohlenwasserstofföl
oder ein synthetisches Esteröl darstellen. Im allgemeinen sollen diese öle eine Viskosität
innerhalb der Größenordnung von 35 bis 200 SUS bei 99° C besitzen. Zu den verwendbaren Schmierölen
gehören Ester von 2basischen Säuren, wie Di-2-Äthylhexylsebacat,
Ester von Glycol, wie ein Diester einer Oxosäure mit 13 Kohlenstoffatomen von Tetraäthylenglycol,
oder Komplexester, z. B. solche, die durch Reaktion eines Mols Sebacinsäure mit 2 Molen
Tetraäthylenglycol oder 2 Molen 2-Äthylhexanolsäure
entstanden sind. Als sonstige synthetische öle können synthetische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Alkylbenzole,
beispielsweise die alkylierten Rückstände aus der Alkylierung von Benzol mit Tetrapropylen oder
Mischpolymere von Äthylen und Propylen verwendet werden, ferner Siliconöle, beispielsweise Äthylphenylpolysiloxane,
Methylpolysiloxane und dergleichen, ferner Polyglycolöle, beispielsweise solche, die durch
Kondensation von Butylalkohol mit Propylenoxyd erhalten worden sind, ferner Carbonatester, beispielsweise
das Produkt einer Reaktion eines Oxoalkohols, der 8 Kohlenstoffatome enthält, mit Äthylcarbonaf
unter Bildung eines Halbesters, worauf sich die Umsetzung des letzteren mit Tetraäthylenglycol anschließt
und dergleichen; andere geeignete synthetische öle sind Polyphenyläther, beispielsweise solche, die 3 bis
7 Ätherbindungen und etwa 4 bis 8 Phenylgruppen aufweisen.
Die Fette gemäß der Erfindung können auf verschiedene Art und Weise hergestellt werden. Wenn
die zweite Sfture Salicylsäure ist, besteht ein geeignetes
Verfahren darin, die Hydroxyfettsäure und die Dtcar-
bonsäure in mindestens einem Teil des Öls mit Lithiumhydroxyd gemeinsam zu neutralisieren. Die
Neutralisation findet bei einer Temperatur in der Größenordnung von etwa 82 bis 1040C statt. Wenn die
Seifengrundlage sich verdickt hat, wird die Temperatur ■ auf etwa 127 bis 149° C erhöht, um eine Dehydratation
zu bewerkstelligen. Die Seifenmasse wird dann auf etwa 88 bis 99° C abgekühlt und der Salicylsäureester
zugesetzt. Dann wird schrittweise weiteres Lithiumhydroxyd zugefügt, um den Salicylatester in das Dilithiumsalicylatsalz
umzuwandeln. Die Reaktion wird bei etwa 104 bis 1150C durchgeführt, vorzugsweise unter Rühren,
um die Umsetzung zu erleichtern. Bei dieser Reaktion entweicht der Alkohol und das Dilithiumsalicylat wird
gebildet Die Dehydratation wird dann bei 149°C bis 160°C vollendet, worauf das Fett 15 Minuten lang auf
193 bis 2000C erhitzt wird, um die Ausbeute zu verbessern. Dann wird die Masse mit zusätzlichem öl
gekühlt, um ein Erzeugnis der gewünschten Konsistenz zu erhalten. Stattdessen kann das zusätzliche öl auch
dem Seifenkonzentrat zugesetzt werden bevor die Bildung des Dilithiumsalicylats in der Masse stattfindet
Ein anderes Verfahren besteht darin, alle drei bei der
Herstellung des Fettes verwendeten Arten von Säuren
gemeinsam zu neutralisieren oder einen niederen Ester
der zweiten Art der Hydroxysäuren, beispielsweise Methylsalicylat, gleichzeitig mit der Neutralisation der
Hydroxysäure der ersten Art, beispielsweise Hydroxystearinsäure,
sowie der Dicarbonsäure 2U verseifen. Ein
weiteres Verfahren besteht in der gemeinsamen Neutralisation der Hydroxyfettsäure und des Esters der
zweiten Hydroxyfettsäure mit anschließender Neutralisation der Dicarbonsäure.
Wenn als dritte Säure Borsäure verwendet wird, so kann das Fett durch gemeinsame Neutralisation aller
drei Bestandteile hergestellt werden oder dadurch, daß
man zunächst die Mischung von Borsäure und Hydroxyfettsäure neutralisiert und dann das Lithiumsalz
der zweiten Hydroxycarbonsäure bildet
Dieses Beispiel erläutert die Herstellung eines Fettes
gemä& der Erfindung im Fabrikationsmaßstab in einem
453 kg fassenden Kessel. Die verwendeten Bestandteile und ihre Mengenverhältnisse sind in der folgenden
Tabelle I angegeben

so daß eine Reinausbeute von 100% der fertigen Fettgrundlage erhalten wird.
c) Dieser Teil des LiOH · H2O ist erforderlich, um lediglich
die 12-Hydroxystearinsäure und die Azelainsäure zu neutralisieren.
d) Dieser Teil des LiOH · H2O ist erforderlich, um mit dem
Methylsalicylat unter Bildung von Dilithiumsalicylat zu reagieren.
Die 12-Hydroxystearinsäure und die Azelainsäure werden zusammen mit etwa 55 Gew.-% des Grundöls in
den Kessel eingefüllt, die Mischung whd auf 90,5 bis 93° C erhitzt, bis die Carbonsäure sich aufgelöst hat.
Während die Kesseltemperatur auf 93 bis 96° C gehalten wird, läßt man eine heiße gesättigte wäßrige Lösung, die
genügend Lithiumhydroxyd enthält, um mit der Hydroxystearinsäure und der Azelainsäure zu reagieren;
allmählich innerhalb eines Zeitraums von 1 Stunde hinzufließen. Wenn die Seifengrundmasse die gewünschte
dicke Konsistenz angenommen hat, wird die Temperatur, so schnell wie es das Dehydratationsverfahren
gestattet, auf etwa 132 "C gesteigert Wenn die
Dehydratation im wesentlichen vollendet ist, was sich durch einen raschen Temperaturanstieg auf 149° C
bemerkbar macht, wird die Seifenmasse auf 93° C herabgekühlt, indem man kaltes Wasser durch den
Kesselmantel im Kreislauf hindurchschickt Dann wird das Methylsalicylat zugegeben und mit der Seifengrundmasse
bei 93° C gemischt Im Anschluß hieran wird der
ίο Rest des Lithiumhydroxydmonohydrats (1,55% auf das
Gewicht des fertigen Fetts berechnet) sehr allmählich in Form einer heißen gesättigten Lösung zugegeben. In
diesem Stadium des Verfahrens wird die Hitzezufuhr und die Mischgeschwindigkeit erhöht um den Dehydratationsprozeß
zu beschleunigen, der bei etwa 200 bis 135° C durchgeführt wird, um die Ansammlung von
freiem Wasser innerhalb des Kessels zu vermeiden. Wenn die gesamte Lithiumhydroxydlösung zugesetzt
und die Dehydratation vollendet ist, was sich durch einen raschen Temperaturanstieg bemerkbar macht
wird die gesamte Fettmasse auf eine Temperatur von 196° C erhitzt und 15 Minuten lang auf dieser
Temperatur gehalten, um die Fettstruktur zu verbessern. Die Fettmischung wird dann rasch auf etwa 149°C
abgekühlt, indem man kaltes Wasser durch den Kesselmantel hindurchzirkulieren läßt, wobei man eine
kleine ölmenge hinzufügt Nachdem die Temperatur auf unter 149" C gesunken ist, wird das restliche öl in die
Fettmasse eingerührt, wobei diese schrittweise gekühlt
3C wird. Nachdem die Fettgrundmasse auf eine Temperatur
zwischen 65 und 93° C herabgekühlt ist schickt man sie durch ein 100-Maschen-Sieb nach Tyler (Sieböffnungen
0,149 mm) hindurch, um die Herstellung zu vervollständigen.
Das Produkt ist ein glattes einheitliches Fett von hellgelber Farbe mit einer Penetration in nicht
durchgearbeitetem Zustand von 230 bei 25CC Nach 60
Beanspruchungen betrug die Penetration bei 25° C immer noch 230, sie stieg nach lOOOOfacher mechanischer
Beanspruchung auf 240 und nach 100 00Ofacher Beanspruchung auf 251.
Um ein für die Schmierung der Lager eines Lokomotivzugmotors geeignetes Fett herzustellen,
wurde die Fettgrundmasse nach Beispiel 1 durch Zusatz unter einfachem Mischen von 0,5 Gew.-% Phenyl-alpha-Naphthylamin
modifiziert, welches als Oxydationsverhinderndes Mittel dient. Ferner wurden 33 Gew.-% des
in Tabelle I beschriebenen Grundöls und 1,75 Gew.-% eines Konzentrats zur Rostverhinderung zugesetzt das
als Natriumsulfonat BSN bezeichnet war und aus 50 Gew.-% eines leichten Mineralschmieröls und 50
Gew.-% von neutralem Barium-Dinonyl-Naphthalinsulfonat bestand.
Die Eigenschaften dieses Fettes werden in der Tabelle II mit einem handelsüblichen Lithiumhydroxystearatfett
und mit einem weiteren Lithiumhydroxystearat verglichen, das Dilithiumsalicylat enthielt und als
DLS-Fett bezeichnet war. Das handelsübliche Lithiumhydroxystearatfett war ein Handelserzeugnis, das als
alleiniges Verdickungsmittel Lithium-12-Hydroxystearat enthielt. Das DLS-Fett enthielt ebenfalls Lithium-12-Hvdroxystearat
als einziges Verdickungsmittel, aber noch zusätzlich 3 Gew.-°/o eines fein verteilten
vorgebildeten Dilithiumsalicylatpulvers als Oxydationsverhinderer.
Es sei vermerkt, daß das Fett nach Beispiel 2 einen Tropfpunkt oberhalb 2600C aufwies, im Vergleich mit
einem Tropfpunkt von 2010C für übliches Lithiumhy-
droxystearatfett, und 188° C bei einem Fett, dem
gepulvertes Dilithiumsalicylat zugesetzt worden war.

Methacrylatpolymeren, das einen Alkylrest mit 8 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen aufweist.
Dieses Fett besitzt einen Tropfpunkt von über 3160C
und eine Penetration von 283 bis 25° C nach 60maliger Beanspruchung. Es besitzt einen Arbeitsbereich zwischen
-400C und +204° C und bestand erfolgreich den
Kupferkorrosionstest innerhalb 24 Stunden bei 1000C und den Rosttest nach ASTM D-1743. Die Drehwerte
dieses Fettes bei — 400C beim Anlassen und während
des Laufs erwiesen sich im Vergleich als sehr günstig gegenüber einem handelsüblichen Fett, das mit einem öl
niedrigerer Viskosität, nämlich mit einem Viskositätsindex von 90 und 200 SUS bei 38° C mit einer Mischseife
aus Kalzium- und Lithium-12-Hydroxystearat hergestellt
war. Der Vergleich ist aus Tabelle IV ersichtlich. Wenn man die Viskosität des verwendeten Öls in
Betracht zieht, ist festzustellen, daß das Fett nach
Beispiel 3 ausgezeichnete Eigenschaften beim Drehtest zeigt.
ASTM D-1478 Drehtest (Gramm/cm bei -40°C)
(LiOH · H2O) zugesetzt und die Reaktion bei 93 bis
116° C fortgesetzt, worauf das Reaktionsprodukt durch
Erhitzen auf 149°C dehydratisiert wird. Der Gehalt des dehydratisierten Produktes an freiem Alkali betrug
0,18%. Dieses zeigte, daß die Neutralisation aller Carboxylgruppen im wesentlichen vollständig war. Die
Temperatur des dehydratisierten Erzeugnisses wurde 30 Minuten lang bei 199 bis 204° C gesteigert, um die
Dispersion zu verbessern. Das Seifenkonzentrat wurde
ίο dann gekühlt, indem zusätzliches öl beigemischt wurde,
um ihm die gewünschte Konsistenz zu verleihen. Das Erzeugnis ist als Fettgrundstoff in Tabelle V bezeichnet.
Zur Herstellung eines Fetts gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung wird das gleiche Verfahren wie für das
Seifenkonzentrat nach Beispiel 4 angewendet. Nachdem das Seifenkonzentrat bei 199 bis 204° C behandelt
worden war, werden 30,4 g Methylsalicylat und 17 g Lithiumhydroxyd-Monohydrat bei 1040C zugesetzt. Die
Reaktion wurde dann noch 1 Stunde lang bei dieser Temperatur fortgesetzt. Bei dieser Umsetzung entwich
Methylalkohol und innerhalb des Konzentrats wurde das Dilithiumsalicylat gebildet. Nach der Dehydratation
bei 149° C wurde das Fett gekühlt, dann wurde öl zur
Erzielung der gewünschten Konsistenz zugesetzt. Das Fett ist in der Tabelle V als Fett A bezeichnet.
Unter Verwendung der Fettgrundmasse nach Beispiel 4 anstelle des Seifenkonzentrats wurde ein zweites Fett
hergestellt In der Fettgrundmasse wurden bei 1040C Methylsalicylat und Lithiumhydroxyd-Monohydrat, in
der gleichen Weise wie es bei der Herstellung von Fett A nach Beispiel 5 beschrieben ist, zur Reaktion
gebracht Der Unterschied bestand darin, daß das Methylsalicylat und das Lithiumhydroxyd in der fertigen
Fettgrundmasse zur Reaktion gebracht wurden und nicht in dem Seifenkonzentrat Das erhaltene Erzeugnis

(Herstellung der Fettgrundmasse)
Das Beispiel beschreibt die Herstellung einer Fettgrundmasse unter Verwendung eines Molekularverhältnisses
von 1 Mol Hydroxystearinsäure und 0,75 Molen Azelainsäure, wobei zunächst ein Seifenkonzentrat
und dann ein Fett gebildet wird. In 300 g eines mineralischen Schmieröls mit einem Viskositätsindex
von 90, das eine Viskosität von 550 SUS bei 38°C besitzt,
werden 92 g 12-Hydroxystearinsäure und 43^2 g Azelainsäure bei einer Temperatur von 93° C dispergiert.
Dann werden 31,7 g Lithiumhydroxydhydrat
Vergleichsbeispiel I
Die Wirkung des Fortlassens der Dicarbonsäureseife
aus dem Fett wurde dadurch bestimmt daß ein Fett entsprechend den Fetten A und D unter Weglassen des
Dilithiumazelats hergestellt wurde. Dieses Fett wird als Fett E bezeichnet
Die Eigenschaften der Fettgrundmasse und der Fettmassen A, D und E sind in Tabelle V zusammengestellt
Die Fette A und D zeigen beide das gleiche Molekularverhältnis von 1 Mol Hydroxystearinsäure,
0,75 Molen Azelainsäure und etwa 0,7 Molen Salicylsäure. Die beim Fett E erhaltenen Daten zeigen, daß die
Anwesenheit einer Dicarbonsäureseife notwendig ist um ein genügend feines Dilithiumsalicylat innerhalb des
Fetts zu erzielen und gleichzeitig sicherzustellen, daß das Fett einen Tropfpunkt von mindestens 2600C
aufweist
Der statische Oxydationstest für den in der Tabelle V Daten angegeben sind, wurde in folgender Weise
durchgeführt: 5 Gramm des zu prüfenden Fetts wurden in ein offenes Kugellager bekannten Gewichts eingegeben,
das dann in einen Ofen gehängt wurde, der auf 177° C erhitzt war. In bestimmten Zeitabständen wurde
das Kugellager aus dem Ofen entfernt und wieder gewogen, um den Gewichtsverlust des Fetts zu
bestimmen. Die Ergebnisse sind in Stundenzahl für einen Gewichtsverlust von 35% angegeben.

Vergleichsbeispiel IA
Die Herstellung von Fett D wurde wiederholt unter Verwendung der gleichen Menge jedes Bestandteils, mit
der Ausnahme, daß das Dilithiumsalicylat zu dem Fettgrundstoff in Form eines fein vorgebildeten Pulvers
zugesetzt wurde, wobei alle Teilchen eine Größe von weniger als 150 Mikron besaßen, anstatt das Salicylat in
dem Fett sich bilden zu lassen. Das so erhaltene Vergleichsfett besaß im wesentlichen die gleiche so
Konsistenz wie das Fett D (eine ASTM-Penetration von
300) aber es hatte einen Tropfpunkt von nur 1900C und
zeigte bei der statischen Oxydationsprüfung lediglich eine Lebensdauer von 175 Stunden. Diese Daten zeigen,
daß die zweite sauere Komponente ein Bestandteil des Verdickungssystems sein muß. Es ist erwünscht aber
nicht notwendig, daß sie innerhalb der Masse gebildet wird, aber in jedem Fall kann die zweite Säure nicht als
vorgebildetes Salz zugesetzt werden, nachdem das Verdickungssystem sich schon gebildet hat.
Unter Verwendung des allgemeinen Verfahrens, wie es in Beispiel 1 beschrieben ist, wurden verschiedene
Fettzusammensetzungen hergestellt, in denen einerseits kleinere Molverhältnisse der zweibasischen Säure und
des Methylsalicylats verwendet wurden (Fett F), während im anderen Fall eine zweibasische Säure mit 10
oder 13 Kohlenstoffatomen anstelle von Azelainsäure verwendet wurde (Fette G und H). Die Zusammensetzungen
dieser Fettmassen und ihrer Eigenschaften sind in Tabelle VI zusammengestellt. Eine zusätzliche
Fettmasse (Fett I), in der Stearinsäure anstelle von Hydroxystearinsäure verwendet wurde, ergab ein
flüssiges Erzeugnis mit einem Gehalt an nicht dispergierter Seife anstelle eines Fettes. Die Zusammensetzung
J zeigte, daß ein Fett mit einem hohen Tropfpunkt auch durch Bildung von Dilithiumsalicylat
innerhalb des Gemischs aus Salicylsäure anstelle von Methylsalicylat gewonnen werden konnte
Die Daten für die Fette G und H zeigen, daß
Sebacinsäure anstelle von Azelainsäure mit zufriedenes stellender Wirkung verwendet werden konnte, aber daß
eine Säure mit 13 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül (Brassylsäure) kein Fett mit einem hohen Tropfpunkt
lieferte.

Beim Ersatz von 0,5 Molen Dilithiumsalicylat durch die gleiche Menge Lithiumacetat beim Fett F wurde
eine Fettmasse geliefert, die einen Tropfpunkt von lediglich 216°C zeigte.
Aus 1 Mol 12-Hydroxystearinsäure, 0,75 Molen Sebacinsäure und 0,8 Molen Benzoesäure wurde ein
Fett ähnlich wie die Fettmasse G hergestellt Die Gesamtmenge des Öls im Fett betrug 83,5%. Das Fett
besaß eine ASTM-Penetration von 336 bei 25° C und einen Tropfpunkt von 232° C. Im Vergleich zu dem Fett
G mit einem Tropfpunkt von mehr als 2600C zeigt dieses, daß der Ersatz einer nicht hydroxylierten Säure,
wie Benzoesäure, anstelle einer hydroxylierten Säure, wie Salicylsäure, den Tropfpunkt des Fettes erniedrigt
Unter Verwendung des Verfahrens nach Beispiel 6 wurde ein Fett hergestellt, bei dem die verwendeten
Säuren in einem Molverhältnis von 1 Mol 12-Hydroxystearinsäure, 0,75 Molen Azelainsäure und 0,75 Molen
Parahydroxybenzoesäure standen. Ein Teil der Fettgrundmasse nach Beispiel 4 wurde auf 82° C erhitzt,
dann wurde Benzoesäure mit einer genügenden Menge Lithiumhydroxyd zugesetzt, um die Säure in das
Dilithhimsalz überzuführen. Die Mischung wurde dann t/2 Stunde lang auf 110° C erhitzt und dann eine Stunde
lang bei 149° C dehydratisiert Das Fett zeigte einen
Tropfpunkt über 2600C und besaß eine ASTM-Penetration von 325 bei 25°C (nach 60maIiger Beanspruchung
war die Penetration 330). Der Gesamtgehalt an Verdickungsmasse im Fett betrug 18,1 Gew.-%.
Nach dem Verfahren des Beispiels 8 wurde ein Fett
hergestellt, wobei 0,75 Mole Milchsäure anstelle von
Parahydroxybenzoesäure verwendet wurden. Ip. diesem
Fall wurde die Fettgrundmasse aus einem öl mit einem Viskositätsindex von 87 hergestellt, das eine Viskosität
von 600 SUS bei 38° C besaß, anstelle des Öls mit einer Viskosität von 550 SUS bei 38° C und einem
Viskositätsindex von 90. Der Gesamtgehalt an Verdikkungsmittel im Fett in Gestalt der Lithiumsalze betrug
15,3 Gew.-%. Der Tropfpunkt des Fettes lag bei 268° C
und das Fett zeigte eine Penetration von 328 bei 28° C (nach 60facher Beanspruchung betrug die Penetration
332).
Unter Verwendung einer Kombination von Lithiumsalicylat, Lithium-12-Hydroxystearat und Monolithiumborat als Verdickungsmittel wurde ein Fett hergestellt
Das bei der Herstellung dieses Fettes verwendete Grundöl war ein Lösungsmittel aus einem raffinierten
Mid-Kontinent-Schmieröldestillat, das unter der Marke

Grundöls wurde Methylsalicylat und 12-Hydroxystearinsäure zugesetzt Diese Mischung wurde erhitzt
Nachdem das Schmelzen der i2-Hydroxystearinsäure beobachtet worden war, wurde die Temperatur auf etwa
82 bis 88° C gebracht, dann wurde die Gesamtmenge des Lithiumhydroxyds, die zur Bildung der verschiedenen
Lithiumsalze erforderlich war, in Form einer 10%igen wäßrigen Lösung zugesetzt, die ebenfalls die Borsäure
enthielt, die zur Herstellung des Fettes verwendet wurde. Die entstehende Mischung wurde gerührt und
bis auf eine Endtemperatur von etwa 193 bis 199° C
erhitzt. Der Restteil des Grundöls wurde zugesetzt und die Mischung dann auf etwa 121°C gekühlt Dann
wurden ein oxydationsverhindemdes Mittel sowie andere Bestandteile, z. B. ein Rostverhinderer, dem Fett
zugesetzt Das Fett wurde dann in einer gewöhnlichen Fettmühle vermählen.

Vergleichsbeispiel FV
Unter Verwendung des gleichen Verfahrens wie in Jede dieser nach Beispiel 10 hergestellten Fettmassen
Beispiel 10 wurden Vergkiichsfette hergestellt, bei (M und N) sowie die Masse nach Vergleichsbeispiel 4,
denen in dem einen Fall das Methylsalicylat weggelas- 5 wurde hinsichtlich ihres Tropfpunktes und ihrer
sen wurde, im anderen Fall die Borsäure fortfiel und im ASTM-Penetration bei 25° C geprüft Die Zusammendritten
Fall sowohl die Borsäure wie das Methylsalicylat Setzung dieser Fette und ihre Prüfungsergebnisse sind in
weggelassen waren. der folgenden Tabelle VII zusammengestellt

Claims (1)
1. Schmierfett, zum größeren Teil aus einem Schmieröl und zu 2 bis 30 Gew.-%, berechnet auf die
Gesamtmasse, aus einem Verdickungssystem bestehend, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es
(a) eine Lithiumseife einer Hydroxyfettsäure mit 12 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen,
(b) ein Lithiumsalz einer zweiten Hydroxycarbonsäure mit 3 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen, in der die
Hydroxygruppe an ein Kohlenstoffatom gebunden ist, das nicht mehr als 6 Kohlenstoffatome
von der Carboxylgruppe entfernt ist, sowie als 3. Komponente des Verdickungssystems
(c) ein Dilithiumsalz einer Dicarbonsäure mit 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen oder
(d) ein Monolithiumsalz von Borsäure
