<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
porteur 6.
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"MACHINE FOR TREATMENT OF OFFSHORE FABRICS UNDER BATH AND
PROCESS FOR TREATING TISSUES IN ITS INTERVENTION ".
The present invention relates to a machine for treating fabrics of all textiles in the open sea, under bath, and to a process for treating fabrics in this machine, the fabrics not being subjected during this treatment to any unfavorable tension. and circulating in the bath at a practically constant linear speed with automatic reversal of the direction of operation.
There are machines for the wet treatment of "offshore" fabrics (dyeing, bleaching, washing, soaping, fixing, etc.) in which the fabric, previously wound on a carrier roll, unwinds and passes through the bath. treatment to then wind on a second carrier roll. By reversing the direction of travel, the fabric is wound up and unwound successively from one and the other of the two carrying rollers, as many times as desired.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In certain known machines as defined above, a mechanism is provided which makes it possible to make the speed of passage of the fabric in the treatment bath practically constant.
In other known machines of the type defined in the first place, mechanisms and / or brakes are added which prevent the fabric from undergoing practically a tensile force ("tension-free" treatment).
In other known machines of the aforementioned type, the reversal of the direction of travel at the end of travel is made automatic by the addition of appropriate mechanical or electrical devices, all these mechanisms however requiring adjustment at the start of the movements. operations and often in progress.
Finally, other machines are known in which carrier rolls are immersed in the treatment bath and where the fabric is or is not entrained by an intermediate roll. The advantages of this bath treatment process are known.
The present invention relates to a machine for the treatment of tissues in the open sea under bath and to a method of treating tissues in its intervention, the machine being designed to achieve in a simple manner the goals defined above and not requiring the intervention of only a minimum of mechanisms requiring no adjustment either at the beginning of the operations for treating the tissue, or during these operations.
The machine according to the invention comprises, wedged on two shafts, two fabric carrying rollers, the latter passing which from one over the other, rollers, the shafts of which can move parallel to themselves, roll. freely but with a certain pressure each on at least one drive roller rotating at constant speed, the shaft of which is parallel to that of the roller pressing on it that it
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
leads. As a result, the fabric passes through the bath at a practically constant linear speed, a speed equal to the tangential speed of the last mentioned roller.
According to an additional feature of the invention, the journals of the shafts of the carrier rollers rotate in bearings mounted in fixed slides, which allows the axes of the carrier rolls to come closer to the axes of the drive rollers during unwinding of the fabric. , the pressure exerted on the drive rollers by the carrier rollers resulting from the weight of the latter.
According to another fundamental feature of the invention, the machine comprises an adjustable device suitable for making the tangential speed of the roller which drives the roller whose fabric unwinds lower than the tangential speed of the roller driving the carrier roller on the- which the fabric rolls up. This results in low tension in the fabric. A suitable choice of the ratio of the aforesaid transmission makes it possible to adapt this tension to the nature and to the structure of the fabric treated.
According to another feature of the invention, the machine is provided with a double set of transmissions as described above, so that the drive rollers being driven alternately by the motor, the fabric passes alternately from a carrier roller on the machine. the other, still passing through the bath under a substantially constant controlled tension and at a substantially constant linear speed.
According to another additional feature of the invention, an electrical or mechanical device for reversing the direction of travel is actuated each time a carrier roll is completely unwound.
Other features of the invention will become apparent from the description given below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, by way of non-limiting example of certain
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
certain particular forms of a machine and method according to the invention.
In these drawings:
Figure 1 shows in elevation a cross section of the machine along I-I in Figure 2.
Figure 2 shows a plan view of the machine.
The contact control devices which cause the motor to reverse the direction of operation are not shown in this view.
Figure 3 shows in elevation with broken pieces a contact control device which causes the motor to reverse the direction of operation.
Figure 4 shows another control device for adjusting the tension of the fabric.
The same reference numerals represent the same elements in the different drawings.
The machine according to the invention and shown in the drawings comprises a treatment tank 1, the framework of which can act as a frame, this tank being constructed from any material suitable for the use for which it is intended.
The fabric is wound up beforehand, either outside the machine or in the latter, on one of the carrier rollers 6 or 7, or for example on the latter.
After having passed over the expander device 30 and possibly over one or more detour rollers not shown, the fabric is brought into contact with the carrier roller 6 on which it is manually wound a few turns so that it is driven when the machine is started.
The tissue therefore describes the trajectory indicated in broken lines in FIG. 1.
Two drive rollers 2 and 3, grooved or not, provided with horizontal journals 4 and 4a, rotate in bearings 5 fixed to the walls of the tank.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The two carrier rollers 6 and 7, connected or not, are provided respectively with journals 8 and 8a rotating in bearings 9 and 9a sliding vertically in grooves 10 and 10a formed in the walls of the tank.
The two carrier rollers 6 and 7 are supported by their own weight and through the fabric already wound on each of them, on the two drive rollers 8 and 3.
The motor 22 being started in the desired direction communicates its movement, by means of a speed reducer 21, a freewheel 20 and a chain 19, to a fixed wheel 18 fixed on the drive roller shaft 2. Freewheel will be understood here and in the following to mean a wheel mounted on a shaft and associated with a device (ratchet or other having the effect of allowing the wheel to follow the movement of the drive roller. rotation of the shaft when the latter rotates in one direction, the wheel not being driven when the shaft rotates in the opposite direction. The movement of the driving roller, at constant speed, is communicated by contact to the roller 6 fitted with a little fabric The tangential speed of the carrier roll is therefore equal to the tangential speed of the drive roll, and equal to the linear speed of movement of the fabric.
At the same time, by means of the fixed wheel 15 fixed on the shaft of the roller 2, the chain 17 and the freewheel 14a fixed on the shaft of the drive roller 3, the latter roller also starts to rotate. .
As the number of teeth of the wheel 14a clamped on the shaft 4a of the roller 3 is greater than that of the wheel 15 clamped on the shaft 4 of the roller 2, the constant peripheral linear speed of the roller 3, which drives by contact with the loaded carrier roll 7 is smaller than that of the roller 2 and hence that of the carrier roll 6, since the diameters of the drive rollers 3 and 3 are equal. As a result, the carrier roll 7 tends to unwind at a constant peripheral linear speed lower than that of the roll.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
carrier 6.
It will be appreciated that the winding and unwinding process prevents the tissue from floating in the treatment bath. When the roller 7 is almost completely unwound, in the sense that the guarantor which has been previously sewn to the piece remains alone wound up, a cleat 25a fixed to the rod 26a, itself fixed to the sliding bearing 9a, comes into contact with the stop 29a, thus causing, by means of a reversing contactor 24a fitted or not with a time delay relay, the reversal of the direction of operation of the motor. This then makes the machine work in the other direction. An identical device exists for the other roller (members 24, 25, 26, 29).
This reversal of the direction of travel is thus always done at the same place on the fabric, without the variation in length of the latter, which may result from the treatment, requiring any adjustment whatsoever.
At this moment, the second transmission 19a, which had not worked during the first passage since the chain wheels 20 and 20a are mounted free in the desired direction, starts to drive the rollers 2 and 3 in the other direction by following the action of the fixed wheels 18a and 15a, the chain 16 and the freewheel 14, and the same process as that described above is repeated so that this time it is the roller 2 which turns at a constant peripheral linear speed lower than that of the roller 3. And so on until the desired number of passes is obtained.
It will be appreciated that by suitably choosing the number of teeth of chain wheels 14a and 15a, it is possible to choose a tension of the fabric compatible with the nature and the structure of the latter.
In some cases, it may be useful to be able to adjust the tension of the fabric being processed. To achieve this end, the two chain transmissions 16 and 17 can be
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
replaced by a single chain transmission combined with two frictions.
Such an embodiment is illustrated by FIG. 4 in which the references 23 and 23a represent two disc frictions the adjustment of which is carried out respectively by means of the wheels 24 and 24a, springs 25 and 25a being interposed between the outer plates. frictions 23 and 23a and the flywheels 24 and 24a.
The tank 1 is provided with a drain device 11 and a heating device 12 for the treatment bath.
The wall of the tank at the point where the journals 4 and 4a of the rollers 2 and 3 exit therefrom is provided with stuffing boxes 13 and 13a preventing the treatment bath from flowing out of said tank. It is understood that many other details can be modified without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Thus the device 30, generally called an expander, is provided so that the fabric is wound up without folds and does not move sideways during this winding; device can be fixed, oscillating, rotating, etc ...
One or more detour rollers, fixed or oscillating, can be added to the machine so as to obtain any path of the fabric in the treatment bath.
