DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,605, dated March 24, 1891.

To all whom it nmy concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY \V. PARTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, \Vestchester county, New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet, showing my new design.
My design consists of the body A and the border B. The body A consists of conventionalized water-lily forms and leaf forms upon a shaded ground. The border B consists of an inner irregular-shaded marginal decoration running into a shaded ground, said ground being apparently surmounted by conventionalized water lily forms and leaf forms and running into an outer ornamental margin.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border 13, substantially as shown.
