DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No 20,284, dated November 11, 1890.

Be it known that I. HENRY W. PARTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, Westchester county, New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photogrnph, which forms a part of the some.

The invention relates to a, design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and itconsists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.

My design consists of the body A and the border B. The body A is composed of groups of conventionalized leaf and flower forms. Small groups of conventionalized gem-shaped flower forms are seen at irregular intervals. The whole design lies on a shaded groundwork. The border B is composed of an inner margin of gem-shaped ornamentation, a. middle portion of groups of conventionelized leaf and flower forms with small groups of conventiona-lized gem-shaped flower forms at irregu- Iar intervals on a. shaded groundwork, and an outer margin containing small gem-shaped flower forms on a. shaded groundwork.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A, substantially as shown.

2. The design for carpets, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.

3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
