Be it known that I, WILLIAM R. BENEDICT, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Exterior of a Residence, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 represents a perspective View of a residence showing my design. Fig. 2 represents a horizontal section or plan of the first story. Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section or plan of the second story.
Similar letters of reference designate corre sponding parts in all the figures.
A residence embodying my design comprises a first and second story and an attic story, the Whole being surmounted by gable roofs.
At the front of the first story is a porch A, having in it arch-shaped openings at. Flights of steps a a, lead to theporch A. At one side of the porch A is an o'ctagonally-shaped bay B. The second story is shown as overhanging the bay B, and a console b extends between the overhanging portion and the bay B. The portion A of the porch A extends around upon the side of the residence. Steps 0 lead upwardly to the portion A. The pordated December 31, 1889.

The pillars d extend to the overhanging portion of a gable roof E at the front of the residence, and are represented as forming supports for said overhanging gable ends. To the right of the gable E isa gabled portion F of the roof, and rising from the portion F is a dormer-window G, which latter is shown as having a gable roof. Above the gable E is a gable H, shown as rising higher than the gable E, but not extending so far toward the front. Upon the side of the residence, at the left of Fig. 1, isan octagonally -shaped bay I, which extends upwardly to the attic story. A gableJ is illustrated as extending from this side of the residence above the bay I.
At the rear of the residence is a porch K, to which leads a flight of steps It.
What I claim is- The design for the exterior of a residence, substantially as herein shown and described.
