Abstract
Description
The invention relates to nanotechnology. Metal nanoparticles can be classified as non-oxidizing, such as platinum metals, gold, and oxidizing - copper, nickel, iron, etc. The latter can be obtained, for example, by electric explosion and stored in a hydrocarbon medium. There are other methods of protection - silicon oxide, a noble metal, surface-active substances (surfactants). Oxidation-protected metal nanoparticles are used as sensors and catalysts to modify the surface of metallic materials and deliver drugs to a specific place in the human body.
Closest to the invention in technical essence is a method for producing metal nanoparticles by reducing their ions in a system of direct micelles (RF Patent No. 2369466, 2009). The disadvantage of this method is the poor protection of the nanoparticles from oxidation by adsorbed surfactants.
An object of the invention is to improve the method of protecting nanoparticles from oxidation.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the known method for producing metal nanoparticles, including the preparation of a direct micellar dispersion of a reducing agent based on an aqueous solution of a cationic type surfactant with halogen counterions, the reduction of metal ions in a direct micelle system, according to the invention, the reduction is carried out with a hydrophilic additive with an organic acid, the preparation of a micellar solution Surfactant with a salt of the obtained metal, reduction of metal ions by combining the above two solutions p While stirring to obtain a dispersion of metal nanoparticles. The nanoparticles obtained after reduction are protected by a polypyrrole coating obtained by polymerization of the pyrrole salt by acidifying the aforementioned dispersion of metal nanoparticles with mineral acid, adding pyrrole, hydrogen peroxide, and stirring.
An acidic environment is created by halogen-containing mineral acids. An acidic environment disrupts the aromatic system of pyrrole, and it forms a salt called pyrrole red, which envelops the nanoparticles.
The pyrrole salt polymerizes in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.
The resulting polymer has electrical conductivity, which does not impair the magnetic properties of metals. In addition, polypyrrole is better combined with biological objects than silicon dioxide, since the pyrrole ring is part of chlorophyll.
The larger the specific surface area of the nanoparticles, the more pyrrole must be added to the aqueous solution. The minimum amount of pyrrole is taken from the condition of coating the nanoparticles with a monomolecular polymer layer, the maximum is taken from the condition of coating the nanoparticles with a double layer of polypyrrole. Using the area of pyrrole, the size of the nanoparticles and their specific surface (Laboratory work and tasks in colloid chemistry. / Under the editorship of Yu.G. Frolov and A.S. Gradsky. - Chemistry, 1986. - 216 p.), You can determine the required number pyrrole. Hydrogen peroxide acts as the initiator of the polymerization of the pyrrole salt.
The method is as follows.
Отдельно готовят такой же мицеллярный раствор ПАВ с гидрофильной добавкой и солью металла (хлориды, сульфаты).In a cationic type surfactant micellar solution (citylpyridinium chloride (CPC), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), the reducing agent (hydrazine, borohydride) is dissolved. A hydrophilic additive (citric, tartaric or malic acid) is introduced, which is necessary to shift the equilibrium of the bistable structure of the direct micelle towards the hydrated associate. The amount of hydrophilic additives should be the same with the concentration of surfactants. Separately, the same micellar surfactant solution is prepared with a hydrophilic additive and a metal salt (chlorides, sulfates).
The calculation of the amount of salt and hydrazine hydrate is carried out according to the equation
Сu2++N2H4+4OН-=Сu+N2+4H2OCu 2+ + N 2 H 4 + 4 OH - = Cu + N 2 + 4H 2 O
In water, hydrazine hydrate exhibits the properties of a base; it is taken in the excess necessary to shift the equilibrium towards the formation of nanoparticles. Surfactant concentration is prepared more than its critical micelle concentration. The two solutions are combined with vigorous stirring on a magnetic stirrer or ultrasonic low-frequency dispersant. Get a dispersion of nanoparticles, which is stabilized in an aqueous solution of a surfactant. To coat metal nanoparticles with polypyrrole, the resulting dispersion is acidified with mineral acids, pyrrole and hydrogen peroxide are added. A sufficient amount of acid is taken to neutralize the pyrrole according to reaction (1). The number of H 2 O 2 was taken in an amount of 1.5-2.5 times larger pyrrole in a molar ratio. These limits are due to economic considerations, with a smaller amount of H 2 O 2 the reaction will take longer, with a larger amount - faster. The polymerization reaction is carried out with slow stirring, which can last up to 20 hours, until the reaction mixture ceases to thicken, or according to the analysis, until the concentration of the remaining pyrrole is already changed. As can be seen from reaction (2), the resulting polymer carries positive charges and therefore it is necessary to use surfactants only of the cationic type. Anionic surfactants, such as sodium dodecyl sulfate, form an insoluble complex with the pyrrole salt, which prevents the polymerization of the salt. The size of the nanoparticles and the protective layer is determined using transmission electron or atomic force microscopes. The microphotographs show dark metal nanoparticles and a lighter halo around them, a protective layer of polypyrrole. The composition of the nanomaterial or its degree of protection against oxidation is determined using a Rigaku RAD-c type X-ray diffractometer operating at 20 kV and 40 mA with CuKα radiation.
The invention is illustrated by an example. In a 100 ml glass beaker, 20 ml of a 2M aqueous solution of hydrazine hydrate with 0.006 M citric acid and 0.006 M citylpyridinium chloride are prepared. This solution is gradually added to the same amount of 0.02 M CuCl 2 and 0.006 M CPC with vigorous stirring on an ultrasonic disperser UZDN. The reaction lasts 2.5 hours. A dark red dispersion of copper nanoparticles in water is formed. Distilled water before preparation of solutions is deaerated by passing nitrogen for 30 minutes. The coating of copper nanoparticles is carried out by polymerization of the pyrrole salt. To 10 ml of a dispersion of copper nanoparticles add 10 ml of 36% hydrochloric acid, 10 ml of a 0.2 M aqueous solution of pyrrole and 0.3 ml of 12 M H 2 O 2 prepared from a 35% solution. The polymerization reaction, i.e. protection by a coating of polypyrrole of copper nanoparticles, lasts 20 hours with slow stirring. The dark red dispersion of copper nanoparticles thickens over time. The dispersion is centrifuged, decanted and the precipitate dried. Get a dark red powder for research on a transmission electron microscope and x-ray diffractometer. In the X-ray diffraction pattern "intensity - degrees", only peaks of metallic copper are identified at 43.2, 50.0 and 74.1 degrees of rotation of the X-ray diffractometer. Micrographs using a transmission electron microscope show a nanoparticle size of 25 ± 12.2 nm with a halo of polypyrrole. The diffraction pattern does not change after 30 days, which confirms good protection against oxidation. Immediately after synthesis, nanoparticles not coated with polypyrrole show peaks of pure copper and peaks corresponding to Cu 2 O oxide on an X-ray diffraction pattern at 36.7, 42.4, and 61.4 degrees.
Thus, thanks to the polypyrrole layer, it is possible to protect copper, nickel, iron, etc. nanoparticles well from oxidation by atmospheric oxygen. The method is convenient in that for protection against oxidation there is no need to isolate nanoparticles from the dispersion. The protective layer is electrically conductive, but does not block the magnetic properties of the nanoparticles and combines well with the biological environment.
