Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para el tratamiento de aguas residuales contaminadas con impurezas volátiles oxidables químicamente e impurezas no volátiles, el proceso está caracterizado porque comprende, en combinación, las etapas de: a) concentrar contínuamente una corriente de agua residual mediante evaporación para producir una primera corriente de impurezas no volátiles concentradas y una segunda corriente de fase vapor rica en agua substancialmente libre de sólidos disueltos, la segunda corriente comprende compuestos oxidables químicamente y vapor de agua; y b) oxidar catalíticamente a la segunda corriente en presencia de vapor, a las condiciones de fase gaseosa para convertir substancialmente todos los compuestos oxidables químicamente, con lo cual se produce un producto de reacción gaseoso que comprende substancialmente apor y gases incondensables.
