본 발명은 1회용 기저귀(disposable diaper)와 같은 흡수제품, 및 더욱 특히, 제품의 수용 특성을 증진시키는 기저귀(gasketing cuff) 및 차단 커프(barrier cuff)를 갖는 흡수제품에 관한 것이다.
1회용 기저귀 및 성인의 실금용 브리이프와 같은 흡수제품의 주요 기능은 체분비물을 흡수하여 함유하는 것이다. 이러한 제품은 또한 체분비물이 착용자와 접촉하는 옷 또는 다른 제품(예 : 침구)을 더럽히거나, 습윤시키거나 또는 오염시키는 것을 방지하려는 목적이 있다. 이러한 제품으로 실수하는 가장 통상적인 형태는 체분비물이 제품내에서 즉시 흡수되지 않기 때문에 옷에 인접한, 제품과 착용자의 다리 또는 허리 사이의 갭(gap)으로 새어나오는 경우 발생한다. 이것은 흡수제품에 쉽게 흡수되지 않고 흡수제품의 표면상에 “부유(float)”하는 경향이 있는 유리된 배설 물질(loose fecal material)의 경우 뚜렷하다.

본 발명의 또 다른 목적은 체분비물의 누출을 방지하기 위한 이중 억제제를 제공함으로써, 특히 유리된 배설물질에 대하여 흡수제품의 수용 특성을 증진시키기 위한 탄성적으로 수축가능한 가스켓팅 커프 및 차단 커프를 갖는 흡수제품을 제공하는 것이다.
또한 본 발명의 목적은 제품내에서 체분비물을 억제하고 보유되는 채널이 형성되도록, 제품이 착용자에 고정될 때 표면 시이트의 상부 표면 위로 상승된 차단 커프를 갖는 흡수제품을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 이들 및 다른 목적은 하기의 설명 및 첨부 도면으로 더욱 쉽게 명백해질 것이다.

표면 시이트(38)은 착용자의 피부에 대해 순응하고, 감촉이 부드러우며 자극을 주지 않는다. 더우기, 표면 시이트(38)은 유체가 그 두께를 통해 쉽게 통과하도록 액체 투과성이다. 적합한 표면 시이트는, 다공성 발포체, 망상 발포체, 기공 플라스틱 필름, 천연 섬유(예를 들면, 나무 또는 면섬유), 합성섬유(예를 들면, 폴리에스테르 또는 폴리프로필렌 섬유) 또는 천연 및 합성섬유의 혼합물과 같은 광범위한 물질로부터 제조될 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 흡수 코어(44)내의 유체로부터 착용자의 피부를 격리시키도록 소수성 물질로 제조한다.
특히 바람직한 표면 시이트(38)은 허클스 사(Hercules, Inc., Willmington, Deiaware)에 의해 시판되는 Hercules Type 151 폴리프로필렌과 같은 약 1.5의 데니어를 갖는 스테이플(Staple) 길이 폴리프로필렌 섬유로 이루어진다. 본 명세서에 사용되는 용어 “스테이플 길이 섬유”는 15.90㎜(0.625인치) 이상의 길이를 갖는 섬유들을 의미한다.
표면 시이트(38)을 제조하는데 사용될 수 있는 다수의 제조방법이 있다. 예를 들면, 표면 시이트(38)은 제작되거나, 제작되지 않거나, 스펀본딩(spunbonding)되거나, 카딩(carding) 될 수 있다. 바람직한 표면시이트(38)은, 섬유 분야에 숙련된 자들에게 익히 공지된 방법에 의해 카딩되고 열적으로 결합된다. 바람직하게는 표면 시이트(38)은 중량이 약 18 내지 약 25g/㎠이고, 최소 건조 인장 강도가 종방향으로 약 400g/cm 이상이며 습윤 인장 강도가 횡방향으로 약 55g/cm 이상이다.
흡수 코어(44)는 착용자의 피부에 대해 일반적으로 압축성, 순응성, 비-자극성이고, 유체 및 특정 체분비물을 흡수 및 보유할 수 있는 어떠한 수단일 수 있다. 바람직한 흡수 코어(44)는 제1 및 제2의 마주보는 면을 가지며 흡수층(48) 및 제1 및 제2티슈층(50) 및 (52)로 이루어진다. 제1 및 제2티슈층(50) 및 (52)는 흡수층(48)의 주표면을 덮어 흡수 코어의 제1 및 제2의 마주보는 면을 형성한다.
흡수층(48)은 광범위한 종류의 크기 및 형태(예를 들면, 직사각형, 모래시계형 등)로 제조될 수 있으며 일반적으로 에어펠트(airfelt)로 칭하는 분쇄된 나무 펄프와 같은, 1회용 기저귀 및 기타 흡수제품에 통상적으로 사용되는 광범위한 종류의 액체 흡수 물질로부터 제조될 수 있다. 기타 적합한 흡수 물질의 예로는 크리핑(creeping)된 셀룰로오스 뭉치, 흡수 발포체, 흡수 스폰지, 고도의 흡수 중합체, 또는 이에 상당하는 물질 또는 이들 물질의 혼합물이 있다. 하지만, 흡수층(86)의 전체 흡수 능력은 기저귀(20)의 사용시에 부하되는 분비물 형태에 적합해야 한다. 또한, 흡수층(48)의 크기 및 흡수능력은 유아로부터 성인에 이르는 착용자에게 적합하도록 변화될 수 있다.
제1도에 나타낸 기저귀(20)의 바람직한 양태은 모래시계형 흡수층(48)을 가지며 약 5 내지 12kg(약 12 내지 약 26lb) 무게의 유아에게 착용된다. 약 30 내지 약 56g의 흡수층(48)에 사용된 에어펠트는 일반적으로 균일한 두께를 가지며, 흡수재료 1g당 물 약 8 내지 약 16g을 흡수할 수 있는 능력을 갖는다. 하지만, 흡수층(48)의 크기,형태, 구조 및 전체 흡수 능력은 유아로부터 성인에 이르는 착용자에게 적합하도록 변화될 수 있다. 그러므로, 흡수층(48)의 크기, 형태 및 구조는 변화될 수 있다(예를 들면, 흡수층은 다양한 두께, 또는 친수성 구배를 가질 수 있거나, 고도의 흡수 물질을 함유할 수 있다). 따라서, 흡수층은, 바람직하게는, 폭(가로방향 크기)이 약 32cm이고 길이(세로방향 크기)가 약 45cm이며, 가랑이대의 가장 좁은 부분이 가로 약 7cm인 에어펠트의 배트(batt)이다.
제1 및 제2티슈층(50) 및 (52)는 흡수 코어(44)의 인장강도를 개선시키며 습윤시에 흡수층(48)이 찢어지거나, 덩어리지거나 둥글게 되는 경향을 감소시킨다. 또한, 제1 및 제2티슈층(50) 및 (52)는 흡수된 분비물의 가로방향 흡상작용이 개선되도록 하며, 이로써 흡수층(48)에 걸쳐 분비물이 보다 고르게 된다. 제1 및 제 2티슈층(50) 및 (52)를 제조하기 위해 다수의 물질 및 제조방법을 사용할 수 있으나, 만족한 결과는 약 16g/㎠(3000ft2당 10lb)의 기본무게를 가지며 물 약 12.8cm(1/2 인치)의 압력 차이에서 약 30.5㎥/㎡ㆍ분(1000ft3/ft2ㆍ분)의 공기 투과도를 갖는 티슈 페이퍼의 시이트를 사용하여 수득되었다. 제1 및 제2티슈층(50) 및 (52)는 바람직하게는 흡수층(48)과 인접하나, 이들 티슈층은 상이한 크기, 상이한 구조를 가질 수 있거나, 이들은 완전히 생략될 수 있다.
흡수 코어(44)는 배면 시이트(42)상에 중첩되며, 바람직하게는 당업계에 공지되어 있는 부착수단(나타나 있지 않음)에 의하여 부착된다. 예를 들어, 흡수 코어(44)는 균일한 연속 접착제층, 패턴화 접착제층, 또는 일련의 분리된 접착제 선 또는 접착제 점에 의하여 배면 시이트(42)에 고정될 수 있다. 만족스러운 것으로 판명된 접착제는 Eastobond A-3라는 상표명으로 시판되는 제품이다[제조원 : 미합중국 테네시주 킹스포트 소재의 Eastman Chemical Products Company].
배면 시이트(42)는 액체에 대하여 불투과성이며, 다른 유연성 액체 불투과성 물질을 사용할 수도 있으나 박층 플라스틱 필름으로부터 제조하는 것이 바람직하다. 배면 시이트(42)는 흡수 코어(44)에 흡수되어 함유된 분비물이 침대 시이트 및 속옷 등과 같이 기저귀(20)과 접촉하는 제품을 적시지 않도록 해준다. 배면 시이트(42)는, 다른 유연성 액체 불투과성 물질을 사용할 수 있지만, 두께가 약 0.012㎜(0.5밀) 내지 약 0.051㎝(2.0밀)인 폴리에틸렌 필름인 것이 바람직하다. 본 명세서에서 사용되는 “유연성”이라는 용어는 잘 구부러지고 신체의 일반적인 형상과 윤곽에 용이하게 일치시킬 수 있는 물질을 의미한다.
적합한 폴리에틸렌 필름은 Film No. 8020의 상표명으로 시판되는 제품이다[제조원 : Monsanto Chemical Corporation]. 배면 시이트(42)는 바람직하게는 엠보싱 기공 및/또는 염소 사상처리(matte finishing)되어 보다 천과 유사한 외관을 나타낸다. 또한, 배면 시이트(42)는 여전히 분비물이 배면 시이트(42)를 통과하는 것을 방지하면서 흡수 코어(44)로부터 증기가 빠져나오도록 할 수 있다.
배면 시이트(42)의 크기는 흡수 코어(44)의 크기가 선택된 기저귀 디자인에 의해 결정된다. 바람직한 양태에 있어서, 배면 시이트(42)는 전체 기저귀 바깥둘레(22) 주위에 약 1.3 내지 약 2.5㎝(약 0.5 내지 약 1인치) 이상의 최소 거리만큼 흡수 코어(44)를 초과하여 신장된 변형 물시계 형태를 갖는다.
표면 시이트(38)과 배면 시이트(42)는 모든 적합한 방식에 의해 함께 연결된다. 본 명세서에서 사용된 용어 “연결된다”고 하는 것은, 표면 시이트(38)을 배면 시이트(42)에 직접 부착하여 표면 시이트(38)을 배면 시이트(42)에 직접 결합시킨 구조, 및 표면 시이트(38)을 중간 부재에 부착시키고 이어서 이를 다시 배면 시이트(42)에 부착시켜 표면 시이트(38)을 배면 시이트(42)에 간접적으로 결합시킨 구조 모두를 포함하는 의미이다. 바람직한 양태에 있어서, 표면 시이트(38)과 배면 시이트(42)는 접착제(88)과 같은 접착 수단이나 당업계에 공지된 다른 접착수단에 의하여 기저귀 바깥둘레(28)에서 서로 직접 결합시킨다. 예를 들어, 균일한 연속 접착제층, 패턴화 접착체층, 또는 일련의 분리된 접착제선 또는 접착제점을 사용할 수 있다.
테이프 탭 체결부재(54)는 통상적으로 기저귀(20)의 배면 허리대(24)에 제공되어 기저귀를 착용자에 고정시키는 체결수단으로서의 역할을 한다. 테이프 탭 체결부재(54)는 본 명세서에 참조문헌으로 인용된 1974년 11월 19일자로 특허된 미합중국 특허 제3,848,594호 [출원인 : K.B. Buell]에 기술된 체결 테이프와 같은 당업계에 공지된 체결부재일 수 있다. 이러한 테이프 탭 체결부재(54) 또는 핀과 같은 다른 체결 수단은 통상적으로 “사용중”의 구조로 기저귀의 상부 가장자리 근처에 제공된다.
탄성적으로 수축가능한 가스켓팅 커프(56)은, 이 가스켓팅 커프(56)이 기저귀(20)을 착용자의 다리에 착용되어 고정되도록 하게 하기 위해 바람직하게는, 각각의 세로 가장자리(30)를 따라서 기저귀(20)의 바깥둘레(22)에 인접하여 위치한다. 또한, 가스켓팅 커프(56)은 기저귀(20)의 말단 가장자리(32)의 한쪽 단부나 양쪽 단부에 인접하여 배치되어 다리 커프보다는 허리 커프를 제공할 수 있다. 가스켓팅 커프(56)은 기저귀 분야에 공지되어 있는 몇가지 수단으로 이루어질 수도 있지만, 특히 바람직한 가스켓팅 커프 구조는 본원에 참고문헌으로 인용된 전술된 미합중국 특허 제 3,860,003호에 구체적으로 기술된 바와 같이 유연성 측 플랩(58) 및 플랩 탄성부재(60)으로 이루어진다. 또한, 탄성적으로 수축가능한 가스켓팅 커프(56)을 갖는 1회용 기저귀를 제조하는데 적합한 방법 및 장치는 본 명세서에서 참조문헌으로 인용된 하기 문헌에 기술되어 있다[참조 : K. B. Buell, 1978년 3월 28일자로 특허된 미합중국 특허 제4,081,301호, 발명의 명칭 : Method and Apparatus for Continuously Attaching Discrete, Stretched Elastic Strands to Predetermined Isolated Portions of Disposable Absorbent Articles].
측 플랩(58)은, 플랩 탄성부재(60)이 측 플랩(58)을 모아서 착용자의 다리 또는 허리 주위에 가스켓팅 커프(56)을 제공할 수 있을 정도로 고도로 유연성이고 따라서 수축가능해야 한다. 측 플랩(58)은 흡수 코어(44)의 세로 가장자리(46)과 바깥둘레(22) 사이의 기저귀(20)의 부위이다. 즉, 제1도에 도시된 본 발명의 바람직한 양태에 있어서, 측 플랩(58)은 적어도 가랑이 부분(26)에서 기저귀(20)의 흡수 코어(44)의 측 가장자리(46)으로부터 및 이를 따라서 배면 시이트(42)와 표면 시이트(38)을 신장시킴으로써 형성된다.
플랩 탄성부재(60)은, 통상적으로 비수축된 구조에서 플랩 탄성부재(60)이 측 플랩(58)을 효과적으로 수축시키거나 모을 수 있도록 탄성적으로 수축가능한 상태로 측 플랩(58)에 결합된다. 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 적어도 2가지의 방법에 의하여 탄성적으로 수축가능한 상태로 측 플랩(58)에 결합시킬 수 있다. 예를 들어, 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 측 플랩(58)을 수축되지 않은 상태로 유지시키면서 측 플랩(58)까지 신장되어 결합될 수 있다. 또한, 측 플랩(58)은 주름이 잡히도록 함으로써 수축시킬 수 있고 플랩 탄성부재(60)이 이완되거나 늘어나지 않은 상태로 유지시키면서 플랩 탄성부재(60)을 수축된 측 플랩(58)에 결합시킨다.
제1도에 예시된 양태에 있어서, 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 필수적으로 기저귀(20)의 가랑이대(26)에서 측 플랩(58)의 전체 길이를 신장시킨다. 또한, 탄성부재(60)은 기저귀(20)의 전체 길이를 신장시키거나 탄성적으로 수축가능한 가스켓팅 커프를 제공하기에 적합한 모든 다른 길이를 신장시킬 수 있다. 플랩 탄성부재(60)의 길이는 기저귀의 디자인에 의하여 결정된다.
제3도의 기저귀(20)에 있어서, 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 이것을 탄성 부착수단(90)에 의하여 측 플랩(58)에 부착시킴으로써 측 플랩(58)에 연결된다. 탄성 부착수단(90)은 유연성 이어야 하며, 플랩 탄성부재를 늘어난 상태로 유지시키기에 충분한 접착성을 가져야 한다. 여기서 탄성 부착 수단(90)은 Findley Adbesives 581의 상표명[제조원 : 미합중국 위스콘신주 엘름 그로우브 소재의 Findley Adbesives Incorporated]으로 시판되는 고온 용융 접착제로 제조된 아교 비드인 것이 바람직하다. 플랩 탄성부재(60)을 기저귀(20)에 위치시키고 고정시킬 수 있는 방법의 보다 구체적인 설명은 본 명세서에 참조문헌으로 인용된 하기 문헌에 기재되어 있다[참조 : Strickland 및 Visscher, 미합중국 특허 제4,253,461호(1981. 3. 3. 허여) ; Buell, 미합중국 특허 제4,081,301호].
플랩 탄성부재(60)으로는 미합중국 버지니아주 스테워트 소재의 이스트햄튼 루버 트레드 캄파니(Easthampton Rubber Thread Company)사가 L-1900 Rubber Compound라는 상품명으로 시판하는 천연고무로 제조된 단면적이 0.18㎜×1.5㎜인 탄성 스트랜드가 적절하다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 또 다른 적절한 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 미합중국 북카로리나주 스코틀랜드 소재의 풀플렉스 캄파니(Fulflex Company)사가 Fulflex 9211이라는 상표명으로 시판되는 탄성 테이프와 같이, 천연고무로부터 제조될 수 있다. 또한, 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 당 업계에 공지된 열수축 가능한 탄성물질로도 이루어질 수 있다. 또 다른 적절한 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 중합체 필름, 폴리우레탄 필름, 탄성중합체 발포체 및 형성된 탄성 스크림(scrim)을 포함하여 당업계에 잘 알려진 다양한 물질로 이루어질 수 있다.
또한, 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 다수의 구조를 가질 수 있다. 예를 들어, 플랩 탄성부재(60)의 폭은 약 0.25㎜(0.01인치) 내지 약 25㎜(1.0인치) 이상으로 변할 수 있거나 ; 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 탄성물질의 단일 스트랜드 또는, 평행하거나 평행하지 않은 여러 가닥으로 이루어질 수 있거나 ; 또는 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 곡선 또는 직선일 수 있다. 또한, 플랩 탄성부재(60)은 당업계에 널리 공지된 방법 중의 어느 방법에 의해 기저귀(20)에 고정시킬 수 있다. 예를 들어, 플랩 탄성부재(60)을 다양한 결합 패턴을 사용하여 기저귀(20)에 초음파적으로 결합시키고 가열/가압 밀봉시킬 수 있거나, 플랩 탄성부재(60)을 간단하게 기저귀(20)에 아교로 접착시킬 수 있다.
각각의 차단 커프(62)는 근위 가장자리(64) 원위 가장자리(66), 내측표면(68) 및 외측표면(70)을 지니는 유연성 부재이다. 본원에 사용된 용어 유연성이란 아주 잘 구부러져 일반적 신체의 형상 및 윤곽에 용이하게 일치될 수 있는 물질을 칭한다. 또한, 공간 제공 수단(76)이 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)로 이루어졌을 경우에는, 차단 커프(62)는 채널(96)이 제품내에 체분비물을 유지, 함유 및 보유시키도록 하는 표면 시이트의 상부표면(40)으로부터 원위 가장자리(66)이 충분한 공간을 제공하도록 수축성이 있어야만 한다. 차단 커프(62)는 폴리프로필렌, 폴리에스테르, 레이온, 나일론, 발포체, 플라스틱 필름, 성형 필름 및 탄성 발포체와 같은 다양한 물질로부터 제조한다. 이 차단 커프를 제조하는 데에는 여러가지 많은 제조기술이 이용될 수 있다. 예를 들면 차단 커프(62)는 제직, 부직포, 스펀본딩, 카딩될 수 있다. 특히 바람직한 차단 커프(62)는 액체 침투를 방지하기 위한 유제나 계면활성제를 함유하지 않는 폴리프로필렌 물질로 구성된다. 특히 바람직한 폴리프로필렌 물질은 Crown Zellerbach사에 의해 Celestra로 제조된 것이다.
제1도 및 3도에서 보는 바와 같이 차단 커프(62) 및 보다 특별하게는 근위 가장자리(64)는 가스켓팅 커프(32)의 내측에, 바람직하게는 그에 인접하여 배치된다. 용어 “내측”이란 말은 특수 가스켓팅 커프(56)이 위치된 기저귀(20)의 각각의 가장자리에 평행한 기저귀의 중심선(각각 (30) 또는 (32))을 향하는 방향으로 정의한다. 차단 커프(62)는 체분비물, 특히 잘 흡수되지 않고 표면 시이트의 상부 표면(40)에 부유하는 경향이 있는 유리된 배설물질이 가스켓팅 커프(56)과 접촉하기 전에 차단 커프(62)와 접촉토록 하기 위하여 가스켓팅 커프(56)의 내측에 위치시킨다. 차단 커프(62)는 체분비물의 흐름에 보다 효율적인 이중의 억제효과를 제공하기 위하여 가스켓팅 커프(56)에 인접하여 위치시킨다. 차단 커프(62)는 가스켓팅 커프(56)의 플랩 탄성부재(60)과 기저귀(20)의 세로 중심선(36) 사이에 바람직하게 위치한다. 가장 바람직하게는, 기저귀(20)의 가랑이대(26)에서 플랩 탄성부재(60)과 공간 제공 코어(44)의 측 가장자리(46)과의 사이에 차단 커프(62)가 위치하는 것이다.
근위 가장자리(64) 및 원위 가장자리(66)은 서로 간격을 두고 있으며 차단 커프(62)의 폭을 한정한다. 근위 가장자리(64) 및 원위 가장자리(66)은 각각 평행, 비평행, 직선 또는 곡선 상관 관계일 수 있다. 또한 차단 커프(62)는 원형, 정방형, 직사각형 또는 제3도에 나타낸 다른 모양을 포함한 여러가지 다른 단면들을 가질 수 있다. 근위 가장자리(64)가 평행 및 직선 상관관계로 원위 가장자리(66)으로부터 공간을 두고 떨어져 위치하여 균일한 폭을 갖는 차단 커프(62)를 제공하도록 하는 것이 바람직하다. 각 차단 커프(62)의 폭은 바람직하게는 약 5㎜ 이상, 보다 바람직하게는 약 10 내지 약 25㎜이다.
제1도에 나타낸 기저귀(20)의 바람직한 양태은 표면 시이트(38)에 연결된 차단 커프(62)로 제공된다. “결합”이란 차단 커프(32)를 기저귀(20)에 고정시키기 위한 모든 수단을 의미하며, 차단 커프(62)가, 표면 시이트(38)에 직접 또는 간접적으로 부착된 근위 가장자리(64)를 갖는 개별 부재(즉, 통합)인 양태 또는 차단 커프(62)가, 근위 가장자리(64)가 표면 시이트의 연속 및 비분리 부재(즉, 단일)가 되도록 표면 시이트(38)가 동일한 부재 또는 물질로 만들어진 양태을 포함한다. 또한, 차단 커프(62)는 측 플랩(58), 배면 시이트(42), 흡수 코어(44), 표면 시이트(38) 또는 이들의 혼합부재 또는 기저귀(20)의 다른 부재에 결합될 수도 있다. 바람직한 기저귀(20)에 있어서, 차단 커프(62)는 표면 시이트(38)과 통합된다. 통합 차단 커프(62)는, 접착제(92)에 의해 표면 시이트에 고정된 물질의 단일 스트립에 의해 형성되는 것이 바람직하며, 원위 가장자리(66)은 물질의 말단을 접음으로써 형성시킨다.
원위 가장자리(66)은 바람직하게는 근위 가장자리(64)의 내측에 배치되어 분비물의 유동을 방지하기 위해 좀더 효과적인 차단층을 제공한다. 원위 가장자리(66)은 그것들의 전위를 방지하도록 접착수단(78)에 의해 근위 가장자리(64)의 내측에 유지된다. 원위 가장자리(66)은 근위 가장자리(64)에 대하여 다른 위치에 배치될 수도 있지만, 이러한 위치는 바람직하지 못하다.
원위 가장자리(66)은, 바람직하게는, 그것이 표면 시이트(38)의 상부 표면(40)으로부터 공간을 두고 떨어져 위치하도록 적어도 기저귀(20)의 가랑이대(26)에서 어떤 다른 부재에 고정되지 않는다. 원위 가장자리(66)은 바람직하게는 차단 커프(62)가 채널(96)을 형성하여 제품의 수용능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 표면 시이트(38)의 상부 표면(40)으로부터 공간을 두고 떨어져 있다. 본 명세서에서 사용된 “공간을 두고 떨어져 있다는 ”은 원위 가장자리(66)이 때때로 표면 시이트(38)의 상부 표면(40)에 인접한 위치를 포함하여, 표면 시이트(38)의 상부 표면(40)에 대하여 하나 이상의 위치를 취할 수 있는 양태을 포함한다. 표면 시이트(38)의 상부 표면(40)과 원위 가장자리(66) 사이의 거리는 , 원위 가장자리(66)이 표면 시이트로부터 가능한한 멀리 떨어져 공간을 이루도록 위치되는 경우에(즉, 탄성적으로 수축된 상태) 원위 가장자리(66)으로부터 표면 시이트(38)의 가장 근접한 부분까지 취한 라인을 따라 측정된다. 바람직하게는, 원위 가장자리(66)은 약 2㎜ 이상, 보다 바람직하게는 약 5㎜(약 1/4”)내지 약 10㎜(3/8”)의 높이로 표면 시이트로부터 공간을 두고 떨어져 있다.
채널(96)은 적어도 근위 가장자리(64) 및 원위 가장자리(66)과 차단 커프(62)의 내측 표면(68)을 따라 이동하거나 부유할 때 분비물의 유동에 대한 차단막을 형성한다. 따라서, 채널(96)은 기저귀(20)을 벗을 때까지 분비물을 보유하고 함유한다.
차단 커프(62)에는 부가적으로 차단 커프(62)에 또는 차단 커프(62)내에 고정된 흡수 수단이 제공될 수 있다. 흡수 수단은 차단 커프(62)에 접촉하는 분비물을 흡수하여 함유한다. 흡수 수단은 유체를 흡수하여 보유할 수 있는 어떠한 수단일 수 있으며, 어떠한 크기, 형태, 구조 또는 흡수능력을 지닐 수 있다. 흡수수단은 내측표면(68)을 따라 차단 커프(62)에 또는 차단 커프(62)내에 위치할 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 흡수 수단은 통합 차단 커프 전체에 의해 형성된 터널내에 고정된 및 차단 커프(62)의 내측표면(68)의 전체 길이 및 폭을 따라 고정된 에어펠트층이다.

제1도에 나타낸 바와 같이, 공간 제공 수단(76)은 바람직하게는 차단 커프(62)의 내측 원위 가장자리(66)에 인접하여 고정된 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)로 이루어진다. 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)은 통상적인 억제되지 않은 구조내에서 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)가 차단 커프(62)를 효과적으로 수축시키거나 주름잡도록 하기 위해, 바람직하게는 탄성적으로 수축가능한 상태에서 차단 커프(62)에 고정된다. 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)은 상기 참조된 미합중국 특허 제3,860,003 호(K. 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)로는 버지니아주 스테워드 소재의 Easthampton Rubber Company사가 L-1900 Rubber Compound라는 상표명으로 시판되는 천연고무로부터 제조되고, 단면적이 0.18×1.5㎜인 탄성 스트랜드가 적절하다. 다른 적절한 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)은 북카로리나주 스코틀랜드 소재의 Fulflex Company사가 Fulflex 9211이라는 상표명으로 시판하는 탄성 테이프와 같은 천연 고무로부터 제조될 수 있다. 또한, 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)은 당업계에 잘 알려진 열수축성 탄성물질로 이루어질 수 있다. 다른 적절한 탄성물질은 탄성중합체 필름, 폴리우레탄 필름, 탄성 중합체 발포체 및 형성된 탄성 스크림을 포함하여 당업계에 잘 알려진 다양한 물질로 이루어질 수 있다.
또한, 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)은 다수의 구조를 가질 수 있다. 예를 들어, 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)의 폭은 변할 수 있으며 ; 공간 제공 탄성부재는 탄성물질의 단일 스트랜드 또는, 평행 또는 평행하지 않은 여러 스트랜드로 이루어질 수 있거나 ; 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)은 직선 또는 곡선일 수 있다. 또한, 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)은 당업계에 잘 알려진 여러 방법 중의 어느 방법에 의해 차단 커프(62)에 고정시킬 수 있다. 예를 들어, 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)을 다양한 결합 패턴을 사용하여 차단 커프(62)에 초음파적으로 결합시키거나 가열 밀봉시킬 수 있고, 또는 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)을 간단하게 차단 커프(62)에 아료로 붙일 수 있다.

제4도는 착용자에게 착용되기 전에 탄성적으로 수축된 상태의 기저귀(20)의 단면도이다. 표면 시이트(38)은 기저귀(20)의 신체 접촉 표면을 나타낸 것이고, 배면 시이트(42)는 착용자의 신체와 공간을 두고 떨어진 곳에 위치한다. 가스켓팅 커프(56)은 플랩 탄성부재(제4도에서 나타내지 않음)에 의해 모아지거나 수축된 것을 나타낸 것이다. 기저귀(20)은 가스켓팅 커프(56)의 인접한 부근 및 내측에서 신장하는 차단 커프(62) 2개를 가진 것을 나타낸 것이다. 원위 가장자리(66)은 기저귀(20)을 따라서 세로로 신장하는 채널(96)을 제공하기 위해 가랑이대(26)내의 공간 제공 탄성부재(나타내지 않음)에 의해 모아지고 수축된 것이 나타난다. 또한, 차단 커프(62)의 말단(72) 및 (74)는 착용자에게 편안함을 제공하고, 차단 커프의 전위를 방지하고, 기저귀 착용을 용이하게 하기 위해 각각 전면 및 배면 폐쇄부(80) 및 (82)에 폐쇄되어 고정된다.

제6도는 본 발명의 기저귀(20)에 또 다른 차단 커프(662)의 단면도이다. 단일 차단 커프(662)는 전체 기저귀 구조물(즉 배면 시이트(42), 흡수 코어(44) 및 표면 시이트(38))을 주름잡음으로써 형성된다. 구조물을 주름잡은 후, 차단 커프(662)의 근위 가장자리(64)를 접착 수단(68)에 의해 함께 고정시킨다. 차단 커프(662)는 바람직하게는, 원위 가장자리(66)을 표면 시이트(38)이 상부표면(40)으로부터 공간을 두고 떨여져 위치하도록 하기 위해, 차단 커프(662)의 원위 가장자리(66)을 탄성화시키기 위해 차단 커프(662)내에서 고정된 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)과 같은 공간 제공 수단을 가질 수 있다.
제7도는 제6도에 나타낸 본 발명의 또 다른 양태의 관상 단면도이다. 단일 차단 커프(762)는 본 발명의 기저귀(20)의 차단 커프(762)와 같은 표면 시이트 공간 제공 수단을 U자형으로 접거나 주름으로써 형성된다. 표면 시이트는 스스로 접혀져 원위 가장자리(66)을 형성하고 ; 공간 제공 탄성부재(77)을 원위 가장자리(66)내에 형성된 터널내에 고정시킨다. 근위 가장자리(64)를 고온 용융 접착제로부터 제조된 아교 비드와 같은 접착제 부착 수단(100)을 사용하여 고정시킨다.
본 발명의 특정 양태이 설명되고 기술되었지만, 본 발명의 개념 및 범주로부터 벗어남이 없이 여러가지 다른 변화 및 변형이 이루어질 수 있음은 당업계의 전문가들에게 자명한 것이다. 따라서 첨부한 특허청구범위에서, 본 발명의 범주내의 이러한 모든 변화 및 변형을 포함하고자 한다.

  33. 제30항에 있어서, 공간 제공 수단이 경직화수단으로 이루어진 1회용 통합 흡수제품.
  34. 제29항에 있어서, 공간 제공 수단이 흡수제품의 말단 가장자리의 길이에 비하여 차단 커프의 길이를 단축시키기 위한 수단으로 이루어진 1회용 통합 흡수제품.
  35. 제29항에 있어서, 근위 가장자리가 가스켓팅 커프의 내측에 위치한 1회용 통합 흡수제품.
  36. 제29항에 있어서, 차단 커프가 표면 시이트와 통합된 1회용 통합 흡수제품.
  37. 제29항에 있어서, 차단 커프가 표면 시이트와 함께 단일체를 형성하는 1회용 통합 흡수제품.
  38. 제29항에 있어서, 흡수제품이 차단 커프 중 일부를 고정 밀폐시키기 위하여, 상기 차단 커프의 말단 각각에 인접하여 위치한 접착수단을 추가로 포함하고 ; 이때, 원위 가장자리 중 일부는 적어도 가랑이 가장자리 대에서 표면 시이트로부터 공간을 두고 떨어져 있도록 하기 위하여 부착되지 않은 상태로 있는 1회용 통합 흡수제품.
  39. 제29항에 있어서, 흡수제품의 세로 가장자리 각각에 인접하여 위치하여 다리 커프를 형성하는 제2가스켓팅 커프를 추가로 포함하는 1회용 통합 흡수제품.

  42. 제41항에 있어서, 차단 커프가 플랩과 통합된 1회용 통합 흡수제품.
