Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the photo switch to be driven at low electric power and make it inexpensive and small by opening and closing the optical cables connected to the movable part by the iron core composed of semi-rigid magnetic material, and forming the optical path with the optical cable of the transfer side. CONSTITUTION:The iron core 1 composed of semi-rigid magnetic material is insulation-fixed to a metal substrate 7 and winding 9 is built therein. Optical fibers 4 are connected to the mobavle part 5 having a movable spring 2 from connecting parts 18. Further, optical fibers 16, 17 are connected to a support base 12 from the connecting parts 21, 24 on the transfer side. If positive current is applied to the winding 9 in this constitution, the movable part 5 is attracted to the iron core 1 and the optical axes of the optical fibers 4, 17 align, thereby transmitting light. Even if the applied current is cut off, the movable part 5 is latched by the residual magnetic flux. Thereby, the low electric power driving may be accomplished. Further, if negative current is applied to the winding 9, the optical axes of the optical fibers 4, 16 align. Thereby, the switch of low cost and small size may be obtained.
