Abstract
The vehicle power supply inertia switch has a housing (1) with a pivoted base (11) connecting electrical terminals (40, 41). The base is retained closed by a necked pin (24) snap-engaged in clips (27) and connected by a non-elastic wire (21) through a hole (10) in a partition (6) to an inertial mass (20). The wire is retained taut by a spring (23). A sudden shock to the switch drives the mass away from the hole disengaging the pin from the clips and allowing the base to be sprung open by a spring (19) breaking the contact between the terminals. A handle (35) on cable (30) allows manual reclosing of the base.
