972,167. Ventilators. G. W. MINDS. July 13, 1962 [July 13, 1961], No. 27074/62. Heading F4V. In a louvre structure comprising inclined panels, having their longitudinal axes horizontal, extending between two vertical jambs, each panel end is received by a pair of vertically staggered, inward facing notches, one at the front and one at the rear of the adjacent jamb, the distance between the two notches being slightly less than the width of the panels so that the latter are bowed about their longitudinal axes when forced into the slots. As shown, Fig. 2, each jamb 10 has a web 17 extending between walls 15 and 16, flanges 18 and 19 facilitating securing of the jamb to a suitable frame structure, and flanges 20 and 21, with guide flanges 22 and 23, being used toretain the louvre panels. A series of notches 24 in flange 20, Fig. 4, and 25 in flange 21 have horizontal faces 27 and 28 respectively, and inclined faces 26 and 29 respectively. Each panel 14 has on its longitudinal edges, vertical lip portions 30 and 32 carrying horizontal seating flanges 31 and 33 respectively; the edges so formed on the panels corresponding in shape to the notches 24 and 25. The jambs are joined to a sill member channel section at their bases, and by a similar channel member at their upper ends. The jambs and panels are of aluminium or similar elastically deformable material.
