Abstract

Weather bars mounted on all four sides of a window &c. frame 1 and simultaneously thrust into grooves in the window sash 2 &c. by a single operating handle comprise sealing rails consisting of thin foil strips 6 Fig. 3 bentto U-section and made of flexible non-corrosive material, which resiliently abut the walls of the grooves 4 in the frame 1 in sealing manner and are supported by U-shape members 7 which embrace guide members 13 secured to the bottom of the grooves and each member 7 carrying a transverse pin 11 which passes through slots 12 inclined at 45 degress to the groove in the members 13 and through inclined slots 16 (not necessarily at 45 degress) in the operating strip 15 embraced by members 13 and connected together by flexible links 17 to form a continuous band so that when moved longitudinally in the groove the members 7 with the sealing strips 6 partake of a transverse movement and enter grooves 5 in the sash 2 &c. In the case of a sashless window, Fig. 10, not shown, the pane 31 is provided with a member 32 secured around its periphery to provide a channel 33 for entry of the sealing strips. The corner seals are formed with end portions of adjacent foil strips 6 overlapping.
