Abstract

1317609 Panelled walls ARCHITECTURAL PARTITIONS 16 July 1970 [31 July 1969] 34459/70 Heading E1W A partition wall is formed of studs 35 and panels 106 of the same form as those described in Specification 1317608 and mutually interconnected in the same manner by hooks 19 engaging in tapered slots 53. In this application double skinned walls have the studs 35 fixed in position between ceiling and floor channels 38, 37 by a stepped wedge 61 positioned in the floor channel. Successive studs are inserted in the channels at the correct spacing determined by the hooks on a previously positioned panel engaging in the slots of the preceeding stud by inserting the lower end of the stud in the floor channel with the stud channel opening facing normally the wall plane the stud benig transverse to the vertical. The stud is then raised to the vertical and axially rotated so that its larger lateral dimention, across the web of the channel is gripped between the sprung slightly inclined flanges 72, 73 of the floor channel 37 and the hooks on the previously positioned panel engage the slots 52 in one side of the stud. The stud is then finally vertically aligned with the panel margin by positioning the wedge 61 raising the stud and camming it into place on the tapered slot edges 58, 59. The panels may be double width with a centrally positioned vertical strip of hooks as well as the marginal ones and these panels may be staggered on either side of the wall.
