Abstract

904,297. Combing-machines. WHITIN MACHINE WORKS. May 2, 1961 [May 18, 1960], No. 15896/61. Class 120 (1). A combing-machine having cylinder and top combs, a cushion plate and nipper knife is provided with a blade movably mounted on the cushion plate to support the fibres of the trailing fringe, thereby facilitating their presentation to the top comb. The blade 24 is mounted to slide beneath the cushion plate 12 and is normally held forwardly towards the top comb 16 by springs 27 and is pressed back when the nipper knife 13 descends by pins or rollers 29 on the knife that engage sloping faces on blocks 26 fixed to the blade 12.
