859,423. Combing machines. RIETER & CIE A. G., J. J. May 30, 1958 [June 1, 1957], No. 17375/58. Class 120(1). In a Nasmith type combing machine, a carrier 47 for the top combs 53, 54 is displaceably fixed on a guide member 41 which is fixed with respect to the bottom nipper. Carrier 47 is adjustable, e.g. by means of a screw 49 and slot 48, along a complementary guide surface 46 on member 41; surface 46 may be circular, of a radius as small as that of the circular comb, or straight. The ends of combs 53, 54 have slots 55 engaging flanges 51, 52 on an extension 50 of carrier 47. Thus, only (n + 1) adjustments are necessary for the top combs of n combing heads. Member 41 is pivoted at 42 on a pin 14 connecting the end cheeks 1 of adjacent nippers; also, a recess 43 in the front face 28 of member 41 receives a pin 26 on which cheeks 1 are also pivoted.
