Abstract

843,235. Expanding-wheel gear. ETABLISSEMENTS COLMANT & CUVELIER. April 16, 1958 [Dec. 13, 1957], No. 12110/58. Class 80 (2). Equal and opposite axial movement of both flanges 7, 8 of an expanding pulley in both directions of rotation is enforced by a diametral pin 16 fast on an axially fixed driving shaft 2 and engaging oppositely directed axially divergent V-shaped helical slots 17, 18 in freely mounted sleeves 5, 6 integral with the respective flanges and slidably keyed together. Control is automatic by belt tension opposed by a closing spring 13, or is manual by a screw acting on one flange only.
