Abstract
801,823. Expanding pulley gearing. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE TRANSMISSIONS. May 7,1956 [May 5,1955], No. 14119/56. Class 80 (2). An expanding pulley having fixed and movable flanges 4, 5 is mounted on the end of a shaft 6 with the movable flange 5 located axially between the fixed flange 4 and a driven unit (not shown) powered by the shaft 6, a sleeve 15 fast with the movable flange telescoping into an annular space 13 between a hub 7 fast with the shaft and a sleeve 12 integral with the fixed flange 4. The hub 7 and sleeve 12 are interconnected by screws passed through a ring 11, welded to the hub 7, into threaded holes in the sleeve end. A screw 9 and key 8 connect the hub 7 to the shaft 6. A key 18 connects the movable flange 5 rotationally to the shaft 6 but allows the flange to move axially along the shaft. A coil spring 21 biases the movable flange 5 towards the fixed flange 4. In Fig. 1 (not shown) a driven pulley according to the invention is connected through a V-belt to an expanding pulley having a movable flange at the end of a shaft rotated by a driving unit, the driving and driven units lying on the same side of the V-belt.
