Abstract
762,247. Stop motion for textile machines. VOSSEN, E. Aug. 5, 1954 [Sept. 8, 1953], No. 22804/54. Class 120 (2). [Also in Group VIII] A yarn detector comprises an arm 12 urged against the yarn y by a spring 22 engaging a cranked end 13 of the arm, the end 13 turning and engaging an electrical contact 29 in the event of yarn breakage and thereby completing an electrical circuit to stop the machine. The tension of the spring may be varied by connecting its opposite end to an adjustable lever 25. To avoid stopping the machine in the event of the yarn becoming slack, a clamp in the form of two spring arms 42, 43 is positioned on the holder the yarn being drawn between the ends of the arms and clamped when the arm 12 moves upwardly under the influence of spring 22. Alternatively the clamp may be replaced by a member 45, Fig. 6, which only engages the yarn without clamping it. Instead of the lever 25 for tensioning the spring, a ratchet device operated by turning a knob may be employed.
