Abstract

563,241. Tension devices for uptwister machines. LASCH, H. Oct. 16, 1942, No. 14490. [Class 120 (ii)] In a yarn tension device for an up-twister machine, the yarn from the supply package and flyer passes through two movable guides, one of which functions as the balloon guide, the relative position of the guides being determined by the tension'in the yarn against the influence of counterweight means, increases in tension causing less deflection of the yarn and resulting in a lowering of the balloon guide to shorten the balloon and decreases in tension having the opposite effect. The balloon guide 15 is formed on a member 11 pivotally carried in the boss 5 of portion 3 of the carrier member 1 comprising jaws 2, 6 connected by a screw 8 to the transverse bar x of the machine. The member 11 is supported by a loop 19 of a wire 18 carried by the bracket 10 pivoting on a pin 7 of the carrier 1. The bracket 10 also carries the yarndeflecting member 16, 17. The wire 18 is extended to carry a counterweight 20, adjustable by means of a screw 21 to give a predetermined working tension of the yarn. The carrier 1 is furnished with a projection 4 to hold, temporarily, the flyerand spindle button, removed from the spindle, when changing a bobbin &c. When the tension in the yarn between the member 17 and the receiving package increases, the guides 15, 17 will take up the dotted positions so as to lessen the defiection and shorten the balloon. The reverse action ensues when the tension of the yarn decreases.
