Abstract

384,660. Thread-tensioning devices and stop-motions &c. for looms and warping-machines &c. CARVER, T.A.B., Llongdin, Linley Road, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. March 9,1931, No. 7201. [Classes 142 (i), 142 (ii), and 142 (iv).] In means for guiding and tensioning the threads in looms, warping machines, &c., and stopping the machine, or giving a warning signal or both when a thread breaks, the threads A pass through holes, which may be open to facilitate threading, in a guide H and over looped parts of the wires C of a comb, which wires normally assume the positions shown in full lines in Fig. 1 so that the threads are practically undeflected and just touch two guiding rods D supported by a bracket J from the thread-guide. If a thread breaks or slackens unduly it springs into contact with a rod G carried by adjustable arms L insulated from the frame, and the machine is stopped by means of an electromechanical device such as described in Specification 15226/02, [Class 142, Weaving &c.], or Specification 345,325, [Group XXVI]. A warning signal may be given by means of an incandescent lamp, which may be included in the circuit for stopping the machine. The arms may be provided with pointers moving over graduations. An adjustable comb holder E, Fig. 3, may be used supported by a pin Q movable in a slot P in a bracket R, and by a pin O on a link N on a pivot M on the bracket. The pivot M may be formed as a screw and the link be clamped to the bracket after adjustment of the parts. Or an adjustable comb holder may be used to ascertain the correct position of holding rods K for the comb, and brackets J with holes for the rods may be then used to support the parts. Specification 20470/09, [Class 142 (ii), Looms, Kinds &c.], also is referred to.
