Abstract

669,012. Rotary pumps. LAVAL SEPARATOR CO. June 29, 1950. [July 1, 1949] No. 16284/50. Class 110(ii). [Also in Group XXVII] An oil - less vacuum pump of the sliding-vane type has the vane slots 6 intersecting a rotor radius and vanes 7 of a selflubricating material. The vanes may be made of carbon, the outer edge of each vane being inclined at an acute angle to the lagging side of a vane. The off-set b is equal approximately to onethird of a slot depth and the angle between each slot and a rotor radius to the leading edge of the slot is approximately 20 degrees. Two discharge ports 5 lead to a space 5a and expelled air is forced through a muffler 17, containing fibrous material which may be stainless steel, to outlet ports 16.
