Abstract

658,207. Spray carburetters. SOLEX. Feb. 11, 1947, No. 30342. Convention date, Feb. 15, 1946. Divided out of 658,175. [Class 7(iii)] In a carburetter having the pressure in the float chamber 27 controlled by a connection through an orifice 39 to the suction in a chamber 36 having calibrated orifices 37, 38 leading respectively to a Venturi 2 and to atmosphere, an orifice 31 controlled by a suction-actuated valve 30 connects the float chamber to atmosphere at high speeds to reduce the suction therein. The valve 30 is carried by a spring-loaded diaphragm 29 actuated by suction through a passage 33 and closes orifice 31 up to a speed of 1,500 revs. per minute. If the throttle valve is moved towards closing, a passage 43 in the spindle 44 connects the passage 33 to atmosphere whereby the valve 30 closes orifice 31 and the fuel supply is reduced.
