Abstract
510,520. Powdered-fuel engines. HANNOVERSCHE MASCHINENBAU-AKT.- GES. VORM. G. EGESTORFF (HANOMAG). Jan. 29, 1938, No. 2929. Convention date, March 23, 1937. [Class 7 (ii)] Powdered fuel is fed through a passage 5 into an approximately spherical mixing chamber 1 and whirled by tangentially entering air supplied through passages 8, 7, 6 the mixture thus formed being drawn through a nozzle 17, controlled by a valve 3 and entering the induction pipe 16, 14, 18 through which air is induced by the engine suction. The dimensions of the passage 6 may be varied by a nut 10. The valve 3 is cam-operated and may be interconnected with an engine throttle valve ; it may close before all the mixture has been drawn from the nozzle, the remaining mixture being drawn away through orifices in the valve.
