631,508. Milk churns. BALDEN, C. A. Oct. 17, 1947, No. 27852. [Class 66] A milk churn 1 has a vacuum jacket 2 enclosing a steam-or water-circulating coil 40, e.g. for pasteurizing or cooling, and an outer jacket 4 for cold water supplied or drained through an elbow pipe and through an opening 9 in a foot-ring 7. The wall of the jacket 2 may be kept wet by a layer of bitumen-treated hessian &c. To sterilize the churn-interior, the lid 16 is put on, and a connector 31 plugged to a socket 33 and steam is supplied at 32, through a pipe 29, stop-cock 28, pipe 27, and a valve in the lid 16. Steam or water may also be circulated through the coil 40 by pushing the connector further in to open an inlet valve to the coil 40. According to the Provisional Specification, the lid handle may serve as a two-way connector for supplying steam to the coil 40 or to the churn-interior.
