Sterilizing and preserving milk.-In holding type pasteurizers for milk and other liquids, the pasteurizing chamber or chambers a are closed and are provided with heating means in the form of one or more copper &c. tubes d, through which a heating fluid, e.g. steam or hot water is passed, arranged between the upper surface of the liquid and the lids c of the chambers. In the form described, the chambers a are provided with an insulated housing b. The heating fluid passes through the tubes d in succession and then through tubes f arranged between the chambers a and the housing b. The heating fluid may if desired be passed in parallel through the tubes d, and the tubes f may be supplied independently with heating fluid. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also heating by passing warm air or other suitable fluid through the space between the lid of the chamber and the upper surface of the liquid or by forming the lid of the chamber with double walls between which the heating fluid is passed. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
