Abstract

611,461. Vehicle wheels. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. May 1, 1946, No. 13146. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1945. [Class 144 (i)] Detachable rims are supported on bracket-ends of spokes welded &c. to one side of the hub, the free ends of the bracket-arms being braced to the other side of the hub by spokes or a disc. In the form shown in Fig. 2, an outer set of spokes 5 welded to the hub-flange 3 are formed with brackets 7 on which twin rims.9, 10 with a spacer-ring 11 are secured by clamps 12 and bolts 13. The off-set outer ends of the brackets are braced to the inner hub-flange 2 by spokes 4. The parts 5, 7, 4 are shown of channel-section and the inner ends of the spokes are recessed into the hubflanges. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the bracket-spokes 18 are arranged at the inner side of the wheel, the bracing-member being constituted by a disc 22 to which the brakedrum 35 is bolted.
