Abstract

674,799. Vehicle wheels. NOBLET, H. Sept. 7, 1950, No. 22096/50. Class 144 (i). A shock-absorbing wheel particularly for use on rail vehicles, but stated to be adaptable for use on endlesstrack or other heavy-transport vehicles, comprises a pair of resilient rings 10 of generally S-section clamped, under compression by bolts 28, 29, between corrugated flanges 2, 5 and a profiled web 16 extending respectively from the wheel hub and the rim 1. The outer peripheries of the rings 10 engage coned surfaces 9, 18 on the rim and hub-flanges respectively, the inner peripheries being seated on corresponding surfaces 8 at the base of the flanges.
