Abstract

814,987. Vehicle wheels. ROLL-RITE CORPORATION. July 2, 1956, No. 20466/56. Class 144 (1). A truck wheel comprises a hub 12, 13 with a central radial flange 10, 11, and two axially spaced annular metal discs 15, 16 located thereon one on each side of the flange 10, 11, the space between the flange 10, 11 and each disc being filled with rubber 25 or the like which is bonded to the flange and the discs and extends radially outwardly beyond the flange and disc peripheries to form a tyre. As shown the hub comprises two sleeves 12, 13 each with an end radial flange 10, 11 respectively which are disposed face to face to provide the central hub flange and have aligned apertures 14. The annular discs 15, 16 are a sliding fit on the hub sleeve and have their outer peripheral portions obliquely cranked outwardly, the discs being connected together by circumferentially spaced bolts 27 which extend through the rubber 25 and the flange holes 14. The rubber 25 is adjustably pre-compressible by adjustment of the tightening of the nuts 28 on the bolts 27. To provide greater resilience, the inner peripheries of the arinular discs 15, 16 may fit with clearance on the hub sleeve.
