Abstract

592,050. Vehicle wheels. KELSEY-HAYES WHEEL CO. Dec. 12, 1944, No. 24928. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1943. [Classes 103 (i), 144 (i) and 144 (ii)] A wheel of the metal disc type, such as described in Specification 563,596, comprises a pair of coned discs 10 with outwardly-flared portions 14 bridged by a ring 5 forming the well-base of the rim, a bracing disc 4 extending from the hubportion of the inner disc to the rim-portion of the outer disc, an integral tyre retaining flange 22 on the inner disc, a reinforcing-ring 23 welded &c. to the rim to form a support for an inner brake-drum 15; and, a detachable tyre-retaining flange 33 bolted to a radial flange 25 on the outer disc. The outer bead-seating is formed by a portion 30 of the flange 33 and a ring 37 attached to the flange. The bead seatings are preferably slightly coned.
