Abstract

601,476. Cylinders. ROBOTHAM, W. A. Sept. 24, 1945, No. 24721. [Class 7 (ii)] In an overhead valve engine the combustion chamber is formed by a flat topped projection 19 which enters an elongated recess 22 containing the inlet and exhaust valves 15, 16, and preferably has a cross-sectional area at least one-sixth that of the cylinder bore. The sparking plug is arranged in a socket 20 surrounded by coolant and placed mid-way along one side wall. Specifications 287,258, [Class 7 (ii)], and 525,879 are referred to.
